Another Washington Twp. GOP chairman defects to Democrats
Wednesday, December 14, 2005

By LISA GRZYBOSKI
Courier-Post Staff

WASHINGTON TWP.
For the second time in less than a year, a former chairman of the township's Republican Executive Committee has switched political parties to become a Democrat.

Vince D'Ambrosio submitted his change of party affiliation card Monday at the Gloucester County board of elections office in West Deptford six weeks after resigning as head of the township Republicans.

"At the local level, politics is about people, it's about who you feel most comfortable with," said D'Ambrosio, 52. "I feel more comfortable with people in the Democratic Party."

Unhappy with the direction local and county Republican leaders were taking in the lead-up to the November general election, D'Ambrosio said he opted to step down rather than start an internal fight.

snip...

D'Ambrosio said his decision to become a Democrat wasn't a complete turnaround. For most of his adult life, he was a registered Democrat in Philadelphia and even served as a Democratic committeeman in South Philadelphia, D'Ambrosio said. He didn't officially become a Republican until 2001, five years after moving to New Jersey.

4. Hey, I'm former GOP.
Put down the Kool-Aid back in '98 during the impeachment thing. Never looked back. Been here since 3/01.

5. Congratulations!
As you can see, some of our leftists don't even like Democrats much.

The front runner for the GOP NJ Senate nod is Tom Kean Jr., and it's going to be a tougher sell than usual next year to convince voters that somebody ought to hold higher office because their daddy did--go figure? (Doug Forrester spent the week after his loss to Corzine complaining that it was all pResident Duh's fault that he went down the tubes.)

By there way, there must be about eight towns in NJ named Washington or Washington Township. George was headquartered here during the Revolution.

6. That is great but this guy seems to bounce back and forth
I can understand and respect a person that sees the light but when someone like this is bouncing back and forth only to get elected well.....

8. You're right about the bouncing back and forth stuff!
I don't know how someone like that goes about proving to voters his commitment to Democratic values, but I hope he stays put this time.
