N.J. Senate passes resolution honoring Springsteen
A resolution honoring Bruce Springsteen on the 30th anniversary of his breakthrough Born to Run album was approved in a voice vote yesterday by the state Senate.
A similar resolution failed last month in the Republican-controlled U.S. Senate, a snub attributed to Springsteen's campaigning on behalf of Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry a year earlier.
"That was not a very good thing to do," said State Sen. Raymond Lesniak (D., Union) of the Republican brush-off. "In New Jersey, elected officials - Republican and Democrat - love Bruce, respect what he stands for. Everyone knows the Boss is from New Jersey, so I thought it would be fitting and proper to honor him and the E Street Band."- AP
