Jack Cafferty on CNN rips Bush a new one
I heard it this afternoon and was simply stunned.

AmericaBlog has the transcript up:

http://americablog.blogspot.com/2005/12/cnns-jack-cafferty-rips-bush-over.html

Who cares about whether the Patriot Act gets renewed? Want to abuse our civil liberties? Just do it.

Who cares about the Geneva Conventions. Want to torture prisoners? Just do it.

Who cares about rules concerning the identity of CIA agents. Want to reveal the name of a covert operative? Just do it.

Who cares about whether the intelligence concerning WMDS is accurate. Want to invade Iraq? Just do it.

Who cares about qualifications to serve on the nation's highest court. Want to nominate a personal friend with no qualifications? Just do it.

And the latest outrage, which I read about in "The New York Times" this morning, who cares about needing a court order to eavesdrop on American citizens. Want to wiretap their phone conversations? Just do it. What a joke. A very cruel, very sad joke.

2. "Just do it" the anti-rationalist chorus of fascism
Edited on Sat Dec-17-05 12:57 AM by teryang
Humanists, critical thinkers, intellectuals, professors, dissidents, are defeatists because they just don't "do it," they think about the consequences of what they are doing first.

Can't have that. Right Mr. Goebbels?

6. It was odd that Mike Malloy completely misinterpreted this statement
Edited on Sat Dec-17-05 09:28 AM by zulchzulu
I was listening to him last night and he commented that Jack had now done a complete 180 on his attack on Bush. Malloy assumed Jack was back to being some old conservative carmudgeon.

Odd...

7. Malloy obviously didn't hear it himself if he thought that
Must have been relying on what someone emailed him about it.

20. How could he possibly have
mistaken Cafferty's comments, it's so obvious! Methinks Malloy needs to engage more of his brain cells.

8. This is not even a "sad joke." This is stunning, shameful, and grounds
for impeachment. It is much worse than breaking into opponents offices and lying about it. It's spitting on the Constitution and bragging about it, being proud of it. He might as well burn an American Flag in the Rose Garden. Bush disrespects America more than even its enemies.

9. I apparently misjudged Cafferty
Years ago I could not stand the man and thought he was a rip roaring right winger but I have been stunned lately to find that he is one of the ONLY media people with enough balls to speak their mind against bush.

15. This is another moment like
McCarthy going down.

Up until this moment, I was unimpressed by Cafferty.
This was very damning.

MAD! Me, I'm simply so fed up but don't know WHAT the hell to do anymore!

These corrupt people have done more to denigrate America than any I've seen in my lifetime, and they keep GETTING AWAY WITH IT!!!

We desperately need some kind of rising Phoenix, and I ain't talkin' Arizona either!!

23. If the media were liberal, Cafferty would rise in prominence, BUT...
since the media is so heavilly slanted to protect the right wing, I imagine we're all seeing the last few appearances of Jack Cafferty on network news.

Too bad.
