Help me out here...
I just got an email from a friend, who is a hard-core Republican (I know, I know). The e-mail was from the AFA, a group that I do not like in the least.

Subject: FW: Senate set to give half-billion in tax credit to support casinos, adult bookstores, liquor stores, massage parlors, escort services, country clubs

Senate set to give half-billion in tax credit to support casinos, adult bookstores, liquor stores, massage parlors, escort services, country clubs
Contact Your U.S. Senators Today!

Dear **********,

Visit the new AFA Superstore today! Congress is being asked to give nearly a half-billion dollars in tax credit to casinos, country clubs, liquor stores, massage parlors, adult bookstores and "escort" services which were damaged by hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

The measure is now in a conference committee trying to work out the differences in the House version and Senate version.

If passed with the casino tax-breaks intact, the casinos would not only get their insurance money but also get the tax money. The House version doesn't allow tax breaks for casinos, country clubs, liquor stores and massage parlors while the Senate version does.

TAKE ACTION
Send an email to your U.S. Senators and urge them not to include casinos, country clubs, liquor stores, massage parlors, adult bookstores and "escort" services in the half-billion in tax credits. Time is short as the bill is now being considered and expected out of conference soon.

Thanks for caring enough to get involved.

Sincerely,

Don

It's Not Gay: This 28-minute video presents a story few have heard, allowing former homosexuals the opportunity to tell their own story in their own words. Name censoring mine.

Now, he doesn't know I'm a staunch liberal, and I suspect his is a rapid * supporter, so I was wondering how I could respond to this without starting a debate on politics or resorting to foolish name-calling.

1. You have to hook into "Cascade Mail"
You know, those e-mailed panic messages that claim Marilyn Murrski O'Rabbit is going to ban the Bible, or Hillary KKKlintoon is actually a cigar-smoking lesbian witch who is planning to use black magic to become president, or that the UN wants to change the road signs to metric and teach our kids Esperanto at gunpoint.

Get a few of them -- with their hundreds of "Reply-To" addressess -- and have at it!

But Donny Wildmon is no idiot. You can't hook into his mail stream -- because he mines it for money -- his only real God.

2. I note no references at all.
There's no reference number for the House version or the Senate version, and no title for either version -- just a lengthy, probably very narrow and slanted description.

Without a way to look this up and objectively what the e-mail is saying, I'd just call it more hysterical propaganda from the religious reich-wing nut cases.

3. If he's your friend.....
Be honest with him and tell him that you don't share his political beliefs --- to please NOT forward rightwing spews to you.

I can't imagine having a friend who thought for one second that I was interested in reading lying rightwing garbage.

WHY ARE YOU AFRAID TO BE HONEST WITH THEM???
