Taking Back the House - dKos
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2005/12/18/15115/759

This diary from dKos is an insightful look at the way we should approach the 2006 elections. It contends there are many GOP candidates flying under our radar who deserve our attention. Many are in Dem-leaning or toss-up districts. THERE ARE 88 IN TOTAL...if we win 16 of these, we take back the house. This is a great read and I suggest you check it out. We need to spread the playing field in 2006 and contest EVERY seat IMHO, but we especially need to target these 88 districts. The author proposes setting up district blogs ASAP, finding good quality DEM candidates to run, and fully giving them our support. Check this out...I think you all will see that we CAN take back the house in 2006 if we run smart and run hard.

Even a cursory glance shows other districts that fit this bill. In Florida, Ric Keller in FL-08, a district centered in the Orlando corridor that forms the fulcrum of Florida politics...is richly deserving a well-funded battle. Frank LoBiondo, representing NJ-02, currently has no opponent listed with the DCCC, even though his district is ripe for a concerted Democratic effort. John Kline in MN-02 and Jerry Weller in IL-11 also pop off the list as representing districts that are vulnerable yet little emphasized. Finally, Deborah Pryce representing OH-15 voted with Tom DeLay a whopping 94% of the time though her district encompasses some hard core Democratic precincts in Columbus Ohio. Despite this, her 2004 opponent, Mark Losey struggled with money issues...that's not something we should let happen again. Implicit in Joshua's analysis is a question for the DCCC, "Why not take these races seriously this time?"

Take a look and let us know what you think. It goes without saying ... We can win in 2006!

p.s. The article also mentions professional Asshat Tom Davis from my beloved Virginia's 11th district ... he needs to go!

1. Last election, our congressman, James Walsh
didn't even have ONE opponent, now dems are lining up to take him on. Things are changing.

4. It's the 25th district and I'm not sure
who the opponents are, as yet. It's hard to tell whether or not he can be defeated, it really depends on whether or not we've got good candidates. He's had poor opponents in the past, and none last election, so I can't tell how well he's received in the community. I do know that he is very adept at PR. I got a grant to do some outside work (community beautification project) and I was told quite clearly that I had Congressman James Walsh to thank for it. Anything that he is connected to, he makes it his duty to tell everyone that he's the guy who made it happen, even if he only had a little to do with it.

More when I know something about the candidates.

3. A veto proof, filibuster proof Dem congress...
...for Bush's impeachment. The 2007-08 investigations and possible impeachments will give us the White House.
