If Bush wanted trust, he shouldn't have lied to us.
He's threatening, begging, whining for trust from the American people. He's demanding authority and telling us to trust him.

Our response: If you wanted us to trust you to rule, you should not have engaged in years and years of compulsive lying about matters both large and small.

1. If he wanted trust, he shouldn't steal elections.
And, having stolen the job, he might have tried actually working at it.

2. May be if he didn't
spend half his time in Crawford avoiding people we could believe him. Now that he's up to his ass in aligators he thinks mistakes were made draining the swamp. Too bad you made this mess you eat it.

3. How dare we not trust and like him?
Like you say, he didn't earn our trust: he's told more lies than Pinocchio. He doesn't deserve the benefit of a doubt when he's operated in secrecy; his election will always be suspect because politically-Right companies counted the vote in secrecy. He doesn't have our respect because he has not been a "uniter not a divider." He has been as in your face and bitterly partisan as they come. His party has behaved like the Mob.

He's earned our contempt.

5. You're not drinking the Kool-Ade
The Dittiots think he only lies to us FOR OUR OWN GOOD. Like the mom who keeps us believing in Santa Cluas until we're 10 years old. Bush, being omnipotent, knows what's right for everyone, inculding when they need to be lied to.
