Now we are getting somewhere. This is the only thing negative to happen to the wealthy in five years, because they are more likely to be tapped.

1. Remind them...
...that not only can they be tapped, someone with the "right connections" could get access to that information for potential corporate espionage. And don't for a minute think they don't do it. If they are willing to violate all our rights to get...what? How many "terrorists" have actually been caught and prosecuted? They are that much more willing to do so for profit and personal gain.

7. I think wt was being ironic.
That was the line they would trot out during the Clinton-Monica situation. If he had nothing to hide, so the RW would opine, why should he worry?

Turning it back on them.

5. proof we are heading towards fascism rather than falangism
per http://dneiwert.blogspot.com/2003/04/falangism-not-fascism.html (and some other sources I can't find):

"... the fascist state really attempts to subordinate all classes and interests to a total state. Civil association outside of the state is impossible and there is no meaningful legal frame of reference"

"...In contrast, the falangist state has the same rightist character, but there are associations outside of the state. There are elites who are above the state, enjoy the protection of its laws, and the ability at times to act separately from it."

In a falangist state, the elites use the state to enforce their own rule. In a fascist state, the elites are subject to totalitarian government, and have as much to fear from state repression as anyone else.

The fact that domestic spying is viewed as a threat by elites indicates their concern about being subjected to a totalitarian system.

8. a mob war?...
when I saw posts of the plane crash in Miami...the first person that came to mind was Jack Abramoff. Maybe they will be so busy taking care of their own rats they won't even notice the walls closing in.

10. You know I got pissed at this echelon crap during the Clinton
admin and got no support or outrage from anyone. Glad to see everyone's on board with this, no roving wiretaps, no computer monitoring of phone calls or emails.

11. Of course, the elite class can never be upset.
Though I am glad that the public has no tolerance for this.

13. Upsets the ruling corporate classes that is.
This is a country where corporations actively make claims to having the rights of the private individual.

I can remember the Bushco fanfare of their targetting the finances of the terrorists. What would stop Bushco from monitoring overseas communications carried out between U.S. corporations and overseas financial entities with possible al Qaeda connections?

I too, think this will spark some real outrage from them.
