Could Fitzpatrick extend his investigation ?
Edited on Tue Dec-20-05 11:35 AM by kentuck
We recall how Ken Starr extended his investigation beyond Whitewater and we ended up with Lewinsky. Since Fitzpatrick is already investigating a "spying" incident, or the divulgence of a spy's name, would it not be a natural continuation to further the investigation into domestic spying as well? Perhaps the Democrats should call for a special investigator and suggest that Mr. Fitzpatrick simply continue doing the job he has already started??

4. While I long to see what turns up with
a massive investigation into the spying issue, I am also anxious to get the Plamegate matter fully into the courts. I can see loads of side litigation popping up on the broad spying question, delaying everything enormously.

5. Ken Starr had a different status and got permission each time he
wanted to extend his prosecution. I believe he had to get permission from the Attorney General, Janet Reno. But it could have been from the court.

Anyway, he had to get permission for the expansions.

6. Starr needed permission from the AG to extend his investigation.

Janet Reno gave him permission - probably the biggest mistake she made.

Somehow, I don't see Gonzales giving Fitz permission to extend his investigation.

7. Well, they could request another independent investigator....
All they could say is no.
