Campaign '06 dagger: Harry Reid's "we killed the Patriot Act"
Watching the senate debate the last few days and remarks from the president, it's pretty clear that after Reid's remark, they will purposely let the act expire for some short time without extending it. Then, they will run the video of Reid making the "we killed the Patriot Act" statement in the fall campaign as a wedge for the majority of the population who doesn't follow politics closely enough to see behind the soundbite.

I'd liken it to Kerry's "voted for it, before I voted against it" which was easy to follow for those familiar with the different versions of the $87 billion war spending bill he was referring to, but not the 80% of Americans who don't know better.

1. Passion can kill
When a representative gets to feeling really passionate about something, he needs to get into a closet and let it all go. Rant, rave, wave the hands around. After he's gotten it "out of her system", then he needs to speak publicly.

Either that or at least count to 100.

{Yes, there are women representatives, but I grew weary of typing all those his/her, he/she qualifiers.}

2. Let 'em run it
Edited on Tue Dec-20-05 11:49 AM by depakid
It would show that Harry Reid FINALLY showed some spine and the Dems were willing to challenge Bush and the far right on something.

I completely disagree with you. I think that would be great thing. Let 'em run it.

In fact, let Harry Reid keep standing up (not that I trust that he will) and watch the Dems sweep the congressional elections. If the Dems keep backing down AND NOT making forceful statements- and watch them lose a 7th election in a row.

3. I think the majority of polls agree with Senator Reid...
including Republicans. Why is that so bad?
