How long has the Times reporter, James Risen, known about the spying?

And why didn't he report it? And how many other reporters knew about it before the last election? This pisses me off to the max. I can't believe this so-called "free-press" in this country. They have to get permission from the criminal, George W Bush, before they can make the decision to print or not to print a story. Unbelievable!

2. He was squelched by the NYTimes editors

the editors only allowed the story to be printed when Risen and his partner on the story were about to bring a book (including the information now being reported) to a publisher.

(Well besides the emergence of the Risen book, there is the additional consideration that the Presidential election is over now, and Bush was able to keep this and other bombshells like Plamegate from exploding during the campaign with a wink and a nod from his friends in the press, and he can't run again. So they get their permanently compounding taxcuts and the war against Islam continues safe in Bushler's hands--why continue to sit on this story since the upcoming book would be bound to cause chafeing?)
