If Impeachment ever does happen, how big a deal will Roberts as CJ be?

If Impeachment ever does happen, how big a deal will Roberts as CJ be?
Call me crazy, but I thought all along that he was made Chief Justice as extra insulation in case the stuff ever actually hit the fan. Same thing with Gonzales. He has really insulated him self from any real accountability. Any thoughts or odds on whether Impeachment or Censure will ever actually happen?

1. It is absolutely impossible to predict what Roberts would do
Roberts may end up being a pretty good Chief Justice. There's no record yet to really judge him on. Sometimes those appointed to jobs like that end up taking the job more seriously than the politican who appointed them. Like Thomas Beckett, or David Souter.

2. do you think he's more insulation than anyone else chimpy would
have nominated? More than Rehnquist would've been had he lived? More than Scalia if chimpy had "promoted" him to CJ?
