CSPAN callers - ya love 'em, ya hate 'em!
Sometimes I marvel at how intelligent, thoughtful, and measured they are.

And sometimes I wonder how so many aggressively stupid people could figure out a telephone and a TV remote.

Can I get a "hell yeah!?"

1. HELL YEA!!!!
I know what you mean. Some days I get so pi**ed off, I have to change the chanel.

I came close today with this ID discussion. Seems like none of the freepers understand the judges ruling!

3. That's the ONE that got me started on this thread!
Wasn't it amazing how thoughtful the many supporters of evolution, science, and the judge were, and how angry, ignorant, and vicious the God Squaders were?!

Throughout human history, nothing will get you killed faster than telling someone their notions of their connection to God are silly. They'll kill for that every time.

2. And clearly stupid people have no idea they're stupid...
I'm shocked at some of the stuff that comes out of some callers' mouthes. I'm embarassed for them.

5. don't you love the way they say "but it's THEORY!"
as if that someone negates evolution as an observable fact

This is the same crap that got scientist in the medieval times ostracized. Some ignorant dolt thinks it threatens his world view.

7. Of course...
But these are the same people who believe that a talking snake caused all the world's troubles.

4. But let's not forget . . .
These are the people with the motivation and the time to hang out on hold for half an hour or more, on a weekday. They are so committed to what they want to say that they make it possible. Perhaps they're un- or self-employed.

Suffice it to say they're more committed than the average Joe or Jane.

Meaning they'll vote, they'll support candidates who support their positions. Meaning what you hear them say will play out in elections to come.

Scary, no?

6. Absolutely. They vote in large numbers.
Those who think they're doing God's work are not swayed by reason or light.

8. I loved the ID supporter who said
That it was important for kids to learn about creationism alongside evolution because, after all, that's what they talk about in college. When the FUCK did she go to college? In 1849? She had me so irate with her little mealy-mouthed superiority I almost called in for the first time today. I could just envision her at home in her cable knit sweater and frizzy home perm (with carefully curling ironed bangs).

9. Yep...they just had another one who called on Scott Ritter
"Aren't you a child pornographer and didn't you take bribes?"

Uh...NO.

I liked the way Ritter handled it.

13. Don't you love the ones who are so angry they can hardly talk?!!
You hear their breathless voice full of tension as they build up to "and you took bribes from Saddam, didn't you, YOU child molester!"
