Edited on Wed Dec-21-05 01:44 PM by onehandle
Even though I have never sent them my name or address, and have never registered or voted Republican.

Did they:

1. Send it back with lead in the envelope. Give them a $5 postage fee!

5. As someone who works on these sorts of issues for the Dems
The voter rolls are usually available for a nominal fee from the Supervisors of Elections. This usually includes voter id number, address, phone, date of birth, sex, party registration, and which elections you've voted in.

Voter information combined with phone numbers, and other information such as income, marital status, census tract, interests, and previous donor/party activism is then either collected through homegrown efforts of local volunteers or can be purchased from large commercial vendors. The quality of the vendor information is always open to dispute.

The answer to your question may depend on the following:

Are you registered as a Dem or a no party affiliation? If you are NPA, they may be trying to lure you to the dark side.

What part of the country do you live and roughly how old are you? If you are an older Dem in the South or Southwest they may also be trying to lure you to the dark side.

It could be a simple database error.

Was the mail sent to you by name or to the resident at your address?

Are you a professional, have you ever been in the military or law enforcement, are you well to do, etc.? They may be targetting you based on the possibility of flipping you based on a very narrow demographic.

They should not be able to determine for a fact whether you've ever voted Repugnican. (At least let's hope not...)

6. By name. And my full legal name.
I have a very unusual name. It's rare that the exact usage of my name arrives in the mail.

I am a registered Democrat.

I'm not a doctor or lawyer, but I have worked for a major corporation for the last nine years. No military or law enforcement. Not so well to do.

I am in my forties and live in the South, but in the bluest county in Georgia. Cynthia McKinney is my Rep. if that tells you anything.

The letter implies that I have contributed in the past. It's heavy on mentioning the 2006 midterms and how "important" they are to supporting the little dictator.

I think that they are worried about the coming Democratic Congress. Very worried to "cold call" me like this.

Herr Chimpy's ass is grass.

Probably a database error...
They probably have you coded wrong...

Mail the envelope back with something heavy but useless.. costs them more in postage.
