Will Someone Tell Me About This Controversy Over Christmas....
I'm not sure what the sides are. Happy Holidays vs Merry Christmas. What's the story?

2. Don't forget, the Propagandist *himself* declared War on Christmas Monday!
The Propagandist ended his press conference by saying, "Happy Holidays"!

Damn that heathen liberal!!

3. There are no Sides, It's a False Premise
Like "intelligent design" being a scientific theory, it's not.

It's pure hatespeak from the rightwing propaganda outlets.

7. Its a distraction
It's something for the Right Wing press (mainly facist fox) to stir up, obviously their man in charge has been hassled a lot recently, the polls are low, and Iraq is--well its Iraq. This was just something that Fox recreated to stir up hatred of a "liberal press" its always tied back somehow to the liberal press, so really, its kind of funny. Don't worry, their still in complete denial that Holidays is derived from HOLY-DAY, so its just an on-going travisty on their part. Personally, we're paying to much attention to this, this was started by O'Lielly and like someone said before if you check media matters you'll find ample support for that conclusion. Don't play into this, just stand back and hope your not being spied on.

5. Fortunately, Christmas is on Sunday
and then the whole thing will be forgotten, never to be mentioned again.
I think it was just put out there to promote Gibson's book. It's a non issue.

17. They've discovered that it works
as a manufactured propoganda issue that gets people whipped up into a righteous frenzy. They won't be letting go of it anytime soon, unfortunately. Of course it will have to be a seasonal thing, but their getting enough traction out of it that they'll probably be trotting it out season after season for as long as the gullible keep falling for it. That's likely to be a very long time, as I've developed a great deal of faith in the gullibility of the American people.

It may have started on FAUX, but I've seen it all over the place since then.

6. More BS from Faux and Fundies with too much time on thier hands
Just a stupid manufactured "crisis" to help the wingnuts feel good about themselves and distract them from how horrible George Bush is.

8. It's a non issue like Killer Bees and Intelligent Design
meant to frighten people in thinking that some really fucked-up far-out there left-wing fringe group is hellbent on removing the word Christmas from the existances of humanity.

Basically it keeps Bill O'Reilly entertained for a month as he bitches about something that personally I think about 99% of the democrats I know really don't care about.

9. Here's the garbage I got today:
This nitwit is so worried about the use of the word "Christmas", that they actually took time out of their day to come up with this drivel. What do you wanna bet, that both the author and the Repub that sent me this, haven't even heard that their own government is spying on citizens, just because they want to? I especially like the highlighted line.

:puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:

I don't know who they are
Saying I can't greet the crowd
The way that I want to
Can't say CHRISTMAS out loud.

I walk into a business place
See things that I rather not see
But dare I not say CHRISTMAS
And ask for a "holiday" tree.

What happened to freedom of speech
And living in the land of the free
How can they take my CHRISTMAS money
But can't say MERRY CHRISTMAS to me.

Men and women have given their lives
So we could still go free
I wonder how they would feel
At saying "HOLIDAY" TREE.

Come on AMERICA let's wake up
Don't let our freedom escape
If they get by with doing this
What else will they take.

This is starting to get out of hand,
And I've begun to keep track
Well I've just about had enough
I'M TAKING CHRISTMAS BACK.

So MERRY CHRISTMAS AMERICA
I hope this gets all over the net
If we all stand united and take freedom back
'Twill be our best CHRISTMAS YET!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYBODY

No one takes it serously except O'Really and I am sure he doesn't either. He just needs a ruckus to boost his rapidly declining ratings.

14. To put it simply:
Rightwingers are upset that not EVERYONE in America is Christian, so they bitch and moan about being persecuted, despite controlling the nation lock stock and barrel.

16. The story is that there's no story.
It's a blatant piece of demogoguery cooked up by the radical right as the latest manufactured "culture war" issue to whip the base into a frenzy over something that's truly a non-issue, and suck up the gullible into the vortex.

It's a cynical piece of propogandistic manipulation. The situation with our media currently virtually ensures that much of what is being covered as "news" will be phoney "stories" manufactured for manipulation of the public, and with no basis in reality.

Welcome to the propoganda state.

18. It's Right Wing Propaganda....
The John Birch Society claimed that Christmas (& Christians) were being persecuted by the Left. (Maybe you're not old enough to remember them.)

In 2003, Concerned Women for America ran a piece complaining that Macy's employees were saying "Happy Holidays" instead of Merry Christmas. Simple politeness, from retailers dealing with a diverse public. Private citizens are still free to use whatever greeting they prefer.

The whole thing is a campaign in the War Against Christianity supposedly being fought by Evil Secular Leftists. At this point, Christianity's greatest enemies are those who claim be Christian & spread lies to gain power.

For the media, every minute discussing this phony "War" is a minute not spent discussing the continuing debacle in Iraq, Katrina survivors still out in the cold, or Republican scandals.
