RNC's Mehlman and I are now pen pals.
Early today, I opened my mail to find a fund raising letter from the Republican National Commitee. So, I answered it.
**********
December 21, 2005

Mr. Ken Mehlman
Chairman
RNC

Dear Mr. Mehlman,

Thank you so much for your alert to an urgent matter, the battle for the hearts, minds and souls of Americans. I of course, cannot fathom how or
why you sent that alert to me as I am a life long Democrat. So, I am sending your alert, and my answer to you and to the DNC.

Mr Mehlman, you point with such obvious pride to the results of the 2004 election but you neglect to point out that while the GOP did get a huge vote total to be called winner, the Democrats got an equally huge total, simply because more people were voting. And I wouldn’t crow about those totals. You won by a paltry 3 percentage points. I am sure you would agree that is not exactly a mandate. Basically, you guys just got slightly more than 50 percent of the vote totals which means slightly less that half of all Americans voted for someone else. That victory suddenly appears less spectacular. Then add in the suspicions of outright fraud on the part of the
forces that counted the votes, especially in Ohio, and that victory starts to look like a felony.

Now, you say it is very clear how much trust Americans have in their President. With his performance polls dropping like rocks and staying down, with the exception of one poll which still has the CinC in the minus column, I agree….it is clear how much Americans trust Mr Bush….almost not at all.
And to quote your exact words…….”it’s no surprise.”

Lies, more lies, waste, incompetence, cronyism, ignorance, things like that have a way of eroding people’s trust in someone, especially someone who occupies the Oval Office.

Mr. Bush likes to talk about his War on Terror and how safe he has made us. Mr. Mehlman, you have heard the expression “Divide and Conquer.” In the time that Mr. Bush first occupied the West Wing, he has divided this country as no other president in my lifetime. We are about as divided as we were in 1860 thru 1865. And we have been left extremely vulnerable to all manner of enemies. And your policies, if left to be imposed on Americans would the prelude to the end of all we hold dear in this world.

This Republican Party is not the Party of Goldwater or even Abe Lincoln.
They did care about the common man but Bush and Co. are the exact opposite and you know that as well as I. Instead of making life easier for those who have to struggle to subsist, you make things more difficult. When natural disasters strike, you had to be goaded into action. You were lethargic in responding to the Tsunami when it struck, you have virtually ignored the poor of New Orleans who are still wrestling with everyday crises. But when it comes to oil drilling, you guys are right there in a second. Look what the democrats had to do to save ANWAR.

You do your best to destroy social security and Medicaid, rip apart our health care system, you decimate our armed forces by sending them into battle without rhyme or reason and without the proper equipment. You establish tax cuts, make them permanent or at least try to make them permanent and then claim you have to cut spending because there is no money. You allow this country to lose jobs to other countries, you try to establish a guest worker program that didn’t work the first time it was tried.

You claim you want to guard against judges who legislate from the bench. But that cry only goes up when a court decision goes against you. If the decision were to be in your favor, you guys would be a quiet as church mice and legislation from the bench would be peachy keen.

And finally…….Homeland Security, that new, huge and unwieldy bureaucracy where one hand does not have a clue what the other is doing. That’s why FEMA was put under the guidance of someone with no experience in emergency management at all. That’s why he had to be removed from that post before he did any more damage. That’s also why our cargo ports are ignored, why airport security is lax and why sky marshals are being removed from planes.

You work overtime to cripple efforts of Democrats to get this country back to where it was when we were loved, admired and respected by the rest of the work and when people were not being indicted every five minutes for bribery, lying, spying or breaking the law in one way or another.

This administration is the most incompetent, underachieving, cruel and nasty bunch of miscreants I have ever seen. And you are rapidly becoming a bunch of felons.

Mr. Mehlman, the Republican Party, a once fine institution, has come a cropper, especially in the last five years and is fully capable of destroying this country. It started way back with Newt Gingrich’s Contract with America, a contract that nobody ever heard of and certainly never agreed to.
And instead of recognizing your mistakes, you brag on them and make them worse. Reading your letter, you don’t have to be blind, deaf or dumb to spot the platitudes, rhetoric, lies and deceit. And you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand right wing hypocrisy.

Support the RNC? You must be kidding.

One last thing.......the envelope was one of those postage free envelopes but they asked me to use a stamp anyway to help them save money. They are money grubbing for 37 cents. SSheeeeesh!!!!!

On a similar note, my repug mother, god rest her soul, gave thousands to the repugs before she died. She was quite the pack rat in her later years and, in cleaning out her house I found more than 25 of those pre-paid fed ex style envelopes repugs sent her looking for more $$$.

So, I sent them all back- every last one completely filled with their 'trash'- Yup, ripped up colored glossy photos of Poppy, Barb, Pickles and the whole putrefied crew.

It was great fun!

Overall a great letter. Throw in a lil' something-something about who really perpetrated and benefited from 9/11 and the security lockdown thereafter, and it just about sums up how i feel.

Oh, and BTW...

Next time you get one of those pre-paid envelopes from someone you don't particularly care for, take it and wrap it around a brick, making sure all the brick area is covered, then toss it in the nearest USPS drop box.

have sprayed them gold.

As it plainly says on the front of the boxes: Any items weighing more than 16 oz. must be hand canceled at the post office.
