Start pushing this point - Why do we need the Patriot Act renewed when
Bush and the Republicans are going to do as they damn well please?

Especially with the backing of the stacked Supreme Court, the Repuke House, the Repuke Senate, the kowtowing media, and the kool-aide drinkers?

1. The will do as they please
but it will then be a crime and they could face jail time.

2. I think the Patriot Act really protects our government from us.
Someday the rest of the country is going to wake up and try to do something and they won't be able to because the pres will label them enemy combatents and send them to prision without a lawyer.

3. The question goes to whether laws matter to this president
How ridiculaous is it to watch congressmen jabber over the minutiae, pretending to carefully weigh liberty vs. security, with the full knowledge that the president isn't going to follow it?

I mean, the guy is TELLING them he isn't going to abide by their judgment.

What they SHOULD DEBATE FIRST is IMPEACHMENT. IF not, they might as well go home now.

4. June will bring the mother of all Election Year battles on Patriot Act!
This six month extension sets up the Patriot Act for a prime time deadline for renewal.

In June, Election 2006 will already be front and center on nearly all Americans minds.

The arguments against Patriot Act renewal "as is" will likely become more convincing after six additional months of whistle-blowers providing Congress with evidence demonstrating illegitimate and illegal government use of the act for purposes that aren't provided for in the act.

5. Yep, I think the timing is perfect as long as the media is willing to
stop withholding information from the public because our dear CIC threatens them.
