With all the bad that 2005 brought, the end, although only partial, of this court should not be overlooked.

Opponents argued that it was improper for the court (by the 5–4 majority) to grant an injunction stopping the recounts pending the outcome of the ruling based on the possibility of "irreparable harm" to "George Bush's reputation as the legitimate winner." Injunctions for irreparable harm cannot usually be granted if doing so would do equal or greater harm to another party (in this case, Al Gore).

In the end, the "irreperable harm" was to America, the U.S. Constitution and the American people.

1. The Repugs were so ecstatic over Bush being declared ...
... the winner, they didn't notice that this decision was a matter of federal interference in the rights of individual States, which had traditionally been the ultimate 'no-no' with Conservatives.

It should have signalled the old-line conservatives and Repubs that this Administration was going to be distancing themselves from everything the GOP historically stood for -- something that, over the past five years, has been demonstrated time and time again.
