CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - President George W. Bush is spending part of his Christmas holiday reading about the post-presidential years of Theodore Roosevelt and the lives of U.S. troops in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere. Bush was reading "When Trumpets Call: Theodore Roosevelt After the White House," by Patricia O'Toole, and "Imperial Grunts: The American Military on the Ground," by Robert Kaplan while on holiday at his Texas ranch, said White House spokesman Trent Duffy.

The book about Teddy Roosevelt is about the former president's African safari and his attempt to re-enter politics after he left the White House in 1909. "Imperial Grunts" is an account of the daily lives of U.S. elite forces as told by journalist Robert Kaplan, who toured with several of the units in various countries. Asked whether there was any significance that Bush, who has three years left in office, was reading a book about the post-White House years of a former president, Duffy replied that Bush is a "history buff" and "avid reader."

"The president knows full well that he's got a lot of time left in this second term and he's going to accomplish big things, as he's talked about repeatedly," Duffy said.

In addition to reading, Bush is also spending time on two of his favorite pursuits, clearing brush and biking.

4. Bush is a "history buff" and "avid reader."
Hope he's reading "All the President's Men" -- there's some 'history' he might want to take a look at.

Bush 'reading', a 'history buff' - yeah, and we found WMDs in Iraq, there is no deficit, Katrina never happened, blah, blah, blah ...

7. Hasn't an aide been carrying those same two books for a couple
of years now? I'm pretty sure Chimpy was "reading" the Teddy Roosevelt book back before the election. Of course, they define "reading" as the tall guy beside Chimpy carrying a book back and forth in front of a camera - the books are just like the ranch, the cowboy books and the pickup truck - props. If they showed a picture of Chucklenuts with a book in his hands I'm pretty sure he would have it upside down and pretending to mouth the words.

Dumb, stupid, idiot - all of those words are too high sounding for this asswipe.

6. Well, GW was a history major...
not that he really studied or anything with that C- average.

And of course he's clearing brush. That massive stick in his butt has gotten a little flimsy and he's looking for a new one.

9. Haaaaaaaa! LOL! Thx for the laugh.
Seriously, HE DOES NOT READ A THING- Not newspapers or books, and certainly not the blogs!

Anyone with a little bit of education knows that when you read a bit, you speak well- PERIOD.

13. I remember a story that came out near the end of Reagan's life...
...when he was deep into Alzheimer's, the Secret Service kept plenty of Hefty Lawn Bags handy.

Why?

Because Reagan would rake leaves, and the Secret Service would load the piles into Hefty Lawn Bags, and once he'd gone back into the house, they'd dump the leaves back onto the lawn so he'd have something to rake the next time. Near the end it was one of the few activities he could engage in without assistance.

It'll be interesting to see what Bush does with his retirement. My guess is jack shit, or at minimum something totally devoid of community service and completely centered in personal gain.

And probably a lot of...

15. here's something for Boy George to do when he leaves office...
Check out my page dedicated to the monkey in a man suit... http://www.offrampbums.com/bushbum.html ... this is something he would be well suited for and would be hard for him to mess up. Lets see how many of these we can send to him in the next 3 months.. 3 years... whatever it takes to get the message out. 25% of all profits will be donated to Democratic Candidates or causes on local, state and federal levels. Thank you in advance for your support! PEACE

P.S. ... I have alternate signs, one reads "looking for WMD's - Please Help" and another reads "I LIED - TROOPS DIED - PLEASE SHOOT ME!!!" or I will put your custom logo on a sign for the Chimp in Chief
