Photos from San Jose CA, today: "George Bush Dances With The Devil"








NOTE: Some of you may remember this woman (yes, woman) from one of my posts a few months back (one of the photos is below). When I walked up to her I said "You're BACK! Do you remember me taking your picture before?" She nodded "yes" and gave her permission for me to take these. I reminded her about DU and asked her to look for the thread this evening. THIS, folks, is freedom of speech. One asshole sitting at the red light yelled "Fuck you, faggot," and I told her "Don't listen to these people. This is your right to be here and I think it's great."

20. I'm guessing that if she's been out there twice, there'll be a third time.
Today was REALLY surreal.

As you can see from the sky, black clouds were just inching along. And here, on this street corner, this woman was doing a waltz with her life-sized devil puppet (or was Bush the puppet?)...I took her photos, went to the Lunardi's market (which you can see in the photos) and when I drove off she was still on the street corner, doing that waltz as the first few drops of rain came down.

The last time people actually threw things at her from passing cars...cans and bottles, primarily (none of them glass, thankfully)...

I just hope that she feels motivated at some point to check out DU and see what folks here think of her efforts.

I grew up and still work in San Jose. Silicon Valley is an interesting mix of stock option wealth and working class poverty; most elected officials are centrists of either party...
