Ahmed Chalabi, after being trounced in the elections
Is now appointed as Iraqi Oil Minsister?

How is this possible? I smell Cheney in this! Is this what they discussed in Washington in their closed door meeting last month?

1. .89 of 1% of the vote
welcome to DU, I Kant !!

Chalabi took a bath; Allawi took a bath and bush took a bath ... anyone with close ties to the US had no chance to win a seat during the last election ...

but the oil? you betcha ... the Oil Ministry was all part of the script ... they had to have someone in place to protect all the PSA's from the new government ... when hundreds of billions of dollars on the line, they weren't about to fool around with democracy ...

3. Hot stuff, ha? I find it so incredibly curious that Chalabi winds up as
Oil Minister, of all positions. You can't make this stuff up no matter how hard you would try. Yep, I smell Cheney in all this, but my Sicilian grandfather always said "the fish stinks from the head down".

I want to know why this Chalabi thug wasn't arrested for spilling our secrets to the Iranians when he came to DC last month.

Welcome to DU. :hi:

5. Y'all are being too hard on Chalabi
Since he didn't get the position of king, we need someone over there to pull the strings for us.

9. They don't even have to pretend anymore....
The Bush administration corrupts out in the open now. Their hubris assures them of continuing dominance, no matter what.
