Sanders is as radical as they come.



In fact, he's so far to the Left that he calls himself an "independent" because he thinks Democrats are "too conservative."



His record in the House of Representative - particularly on defense matters - is disgraceful.

• He introduced four separate amendments to slash crucial defense and intelligence spending even deeper than Bill Clinton ever proposed.

• He's consistently fought President Bush on issues of national security - most specifically he voted against the use of force to oust Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein

• And even though we are in the middle of a global war on terror, Bernie Sanders proudly says he's "leading the charge against the Bush Administration."

And that's just the national security issues.



Sanders is even worse on social and budget issues.



He's constantly voting to undermine America's traditional values and, to raise your taxes, and to spend millions on wasteful government programs.



The Republican candidate running against Sanders is Lt. Col. Greg Parke, USAF (Ret.).



Greg is a good friend of mine, and he will make an excellent U.S. Senator. Let me tell you a little about him.



Greg loyally and bravely served our country through his 22 years in the United States Air Force as a front-line fighter pilot, flying the F-16 Fighting Falcon.



What's more, Greg spent four years serving as a commander and diplomat in the Middle East -- giving him valuable firsthand knowledge on how to win the War on Terror; Like you and I, he believes:

• America should be strong, safe, and secure!
• America's traditional values should be upheld!
• Taxes should be lower!
• Government should be smaller and more efficient!



In this vital battle to stop Bernie Sanders, Greg has my strongest possible endorsement;



And he needs to have your support as well.



Because Bernie Sanders is treated like a "hero" by liberal Hollywood elites and just about every left-wing radical special interest group they are all pouring money into his campaign.

They're pretty desperate if this is their best charge against Bernie:

• And even though we are in the middle of a global war on terror, Bernie Sanders proudly says he's "leading the charge against the Bush Administration."

This is the mantra. The logical conclusion is the BushBots have to jail their neighbors and families. Not enough anymore to do it. Sorry, Karl.

I'd vote for anyone that said that.

Honestly, I hope Parke is their guy, because he doesn't have as much money as Jim Tarrant, and seems a lot more right-wing.

I am shocked, shocked that John O'Neill would lie. Oh, and send money.

I've been getting them from democrats and they also bash their opposition. I don't seen any swiftboating of the kind Kerry received - nothing delving into his history or anything. But, I also didn't know money from a MoveOn was so radioactive. And, $100,000 isn't that much considering the starting donation requested in this letter is $500! Are people stilling buying the 'values' argument these days? Is 'liberal hollywood' that scary? If I were a republican I'd be a little insulted not to receive more details for my donation. It's not very substantive, imo.

The voters in VT are too wise to accept this crap. VT'ers know shit when they see it.

Coincidentally, the VT spending limits case was argued in SCotUS by NVRI.org

Burlington is kind of a mini-San Francisco of the east.

Although he may have rubbed a handful of people the wrong way, most people loved him. Burlington was so vibrant, growing, cultural, energetic at that time, and he influenced over the attitude of the city.

Sure, he was the only "socialist" mayor, but you have to understand that he had to deal with Republicans, Democrats, and Independents, and so he didn't put a socialist stamp on Burlington, just took some of the best that socialism had to offer and made a great community out of it.

I'd gladly live anywhere where Bernie was my representative.

Didn't he become Indy in the early 90's?

Whether he just truly switched, or because running for national office as a socialist is political suicide (not that would necessarily dissuade Bernie, although he is pragmatic), but still he has those leanings.

Being independent rids him of the label while still allowing him to do what he wants.

And is a Member of the Progressive Party of Vermont, which he helped found. He keeps to the same principles he always has, just doesn't lay it on as thick as he probably could.

Bernie is a Socialist, and proud of it. But he's pragmatist too.

Maybe that's what all of us Socialists ought to be doing..

Maybe we should be taking Bernie's lead.

During his first run for mayor, he was asked by a report about his political affiliation, and he dismissively, and in jest, stated that he was a socialist. He had always been a very progressive independent.

Swift boaters are in for a nasty surprise. Vermonters HATE this kind of stuff. I remember when Randall Terry came to Vermont and opened up an office in Montpelier to oppose Civil Unions. We got rid of him in no time flat. Who can forget Jack McMullen, wealthy carpetbagger running for the repub Senate nomination and getting beat by retired farmer Fred Tuttle, who promptly turned around and endorsed Pat Leahy? We'll chew these guys up and spit 'em out.

For Bernie to denounce O'Neil, even if technically he's not a Dem.

Bernie is great and it sickens me they are attacking him like that. Ugh. My town's exmayor hired one of the SBVT guys to join his campaign. Ugh. My mom said she was thinking of voting for him but I told her that (and what they did to Kerry) and she is now dead set against him which I'm thankful for because, she like me, is a big Kerry supporter.

Seriously, it makes me want to move to Vermont just so I can vote for the guy.

I had the opportunity to meet him last spring in St Louis Mo., he was a panelist at the FreePress Media Conference..

If anyone has seen OutFoxed, you might remember Bernie was one of the commentators featured on that film discussing the issues of concern regarding the Corporate Right Wing Propaganda vis a vis Cable News Business.. Anyone can tell you that Bernie would set about to see to it that the Fairness Doctrine would be re-enacted. Congresss Woman Slaughter from New York wants to see the Fairness Doctrine re-instated.

Slaughter was on C-Span the other day and mentioned that right wing radio (I think it was from Hannity listeners, if memory serves) got wind of that and started bombarding her with emails... one she quoted as saying that (paraphrasing) "that if she wanted Fairness in our media, she should move to Russia". :rofl: :rofl: :rofl: :rofl:

edited to say, that what's going to happening is a vicious campaign to go after both Slaughter and Sanders because of the issue of the Fairness Doctrine, but that won't be the issue that is mentioned, they'll be coming up with a bunch of other crap instead, ya dig.. Right wingers do not want this issue on the radar screen... period. so keep that in mind in the up coming campaign swift boating smears...

With the exception of the 2000 gubanatorial race, we haven't had viciously contested races here. Even that one, in the wake of civil unions wasn't bad compared to other places.

I don't understand why the swift liars are backing Parke. He's a total loser. He's run for statewide office in the past,and never had any success. The real threat to civility, if not to bernie's chances, is that dick, Rich Tarrant. Tarrant is filthy rich and he's already spending like a greedy madman. He's running these expensive soft focus, sort of romantic, smarmy serial ads. Very Hollywood professional.

Bet your ass he was,looks like his boy is now going to do 8 years in lockup and was fined a few MILLION. Heckofajob Johnny......
