RE Harris bribe scandal, please forgive me if....
this is a dupe post or idea.

Does anyone have a link to or even remember a story that circulated around late summer to fall (please check me on this because it was such the byline and I don't remember when it was ) of 2005 about Harris and the GOP? As I recall, when she announced her intention to run for the seat in Florida, the GOP publicly discouraged her and apparently either pulled the plug or threatened to pull the plug.

If anyone else remembers this, it occurred to me that after all the "help" she gave the Bush campaign in 2000, it just doesn't seem logical to dump her by the side of the road, considering the rampant cronyism for which the * admin. is known. but then I realized we were talking about politicians. I'm going to go out on a limb here with a few questions.

Any chance the GOP (or even simply the White House...or hey, maybe it's just Rove) might be behind the effort to discredit her? I mean, help up the political ladder is what usually happens when you provide that much support right? Why are they throwing her under a bus? What has she done to become less valuable? She hasn't criticized the * admin., and she seems like "their kind of conservative", so what gives?

OR is the bribe scandal the reason they didn't want her to run? If so, wouldn't that become a "what did they know and when did they know it" scandal in and of itself?

Any chance she knows too much about the 2000 election? I thought that might be an interesting theory, but that wouldn't make sense because you'd want to keep something like that in the family.

I might have gone off the deep end here, but are there any other ideas? Personally I think she might prove to be quite embarrassing.

1. I recall the story
about them discouraging her from running, don't remember just when. I didn't pay a lot of attention but it stuck in my mind because it surprised me.

Not much help, but either your memory is correct or you and I shared an odd hallucination.

2. Nah, the bush* crime family appreciates favors, but they don't like
too many hands in "their" till. They've got what they wanted from her and realize she's now a liability so there's no reason to keep her on the payroll.
