Tim McGraw and Faith Hill

Does anyone think Tim McGraw and Faith Hill will face retaliation, like that felt by the Dixie Chicks, for their comments yesterday? How long do you think it will be before country stations refuse to play their music and Clear Channel is sponsoring rallies where people can destroy the CDs of Tim McGraw and Faith Hill? Is their any chance that they will not be touch in that it has been about six month and parts of New Orleans look like the Hurricane hit yesterday? In addition, Bush is having other problems with issues like Iraq being out of control, the Dubai ports deal, and the spying issue.

It seems to me that they may be able avoid some of the criticism, but some of Bush's supporters are very loyal. Some of them will say that in a time of war people like Tim McGraw and Faith Hill should not be criticizing the President. I am really beginning to see the correctness in the quote "Patriotism is the last resort of scoundrels"

because people saw what happened and know the government let the people down.

they have been speaking out against Bush for quite a while.....I really dont know about retaliation. I think Country singers((and I'm not referring to Faith and Tim) are running scared from this guy just like the Repugs ("Regressives"...as Bernie would say). It actually infuriated me to think how the Country Music industry contributed to this slime ball ruining our Country. This is the effect of the FEAR factor. I think Repugs are cowards!!!!! Thank god for people with the tenancity to speak out !!!

..I've seen numerous interviews where he's mentioned it and also a few where he talked about being very dissapointed in the election '04 results. I don't like country music or his music in particular but good for him.

Also, I think the Dixie Chicks got their heat more for saying what they did overseas. I think that's an idiotic reason to be pissed at them, and an idiotic distinction for anyone to make but then again we're talking about people who are idiots getting upset in the first place so nothing surprises me.

This time there won't be any. They aren't criticizing the Iraq War and other "patriotic" hot button issues.

they're going after what everybody in America that has enough brain power to speak knows is a total clusterfuck - the New Orleans disaster.

They should sends their message home and go out on tour with the Dixie Chicks, with an opening monolog by Michael Moore and encore by Noam Chomsky!

I saw an MRD link on Michael Moore's Website, and began posting there...I had never posted on a board before!
One of the frequent posters on MRD mentioned DU, and I had to check it out; I was astonished and pleased (and ultimately hooked).
Last time I went back to MRD, it was not functional. I hope that's changed..good Peeps there.

...both country music and country music artists are too closely tied to the repulican party (remember the past repug convention). So much so that it's beging to hurt both (i.e are tied to Bushco). In response country is finially starting to figure this out and are begining to let people like Tim, Faith (whom I've heard once 'corrected' someone who mistakenly thought they were repugs), Garth (yes him who also got some flack from country radio for his song "We shall be Free".) among others who arent repugs to voice themselves more. And to let artist who were stolictly probush (i.e. Tobe and co.) to backtrack abit from past coments.

Inshort the bottom line is forcing country to finially start to distance itself abit from the republican party so Tim and Faith will get thru this with little to no problem.

Meaning that hopefully maybe I can start hearing more Dixie Chicks (one of the few country bands this black street kid does like) music on the radio again now (yeah right!).

Anyway that's my .02 cents on this.

The Dixie Chicks have some really great songs. Some of my favorites are "I Can Love You Better", "Sin Wagon", "Cowboy Take Me Away", and "Ready to Run". If I ever have a chance to go to one of their concerts I will really enjoy going. I also like Garth Brooks a pretty good bit. He has some goods songs.

Just like Frank Zappa and Brian Wilson were ahead of The Beatles on musical trends, McGraw and Hill come aboard when Bush-bashing has become popular.

Only the dimmest of the dim are boycotting people that speak out against Georgie now.

What a dilemma for the Clear Channel types! "Hmmmm, play their records and make more money because the fans LOVE them; or Dixie Chick them and lose listeners ..." It must be KILLING them. HEHE!!
