1. yawn
Checked out the restaurant section, and everyone eats at those places.

Fun fact about Signatures though: It used to be owned (in part, I think) by Jack Abramoff

3. Ooooooohhhh. I hate to say it but those GOP hypocrites have a point
Edited on Fri Mar-10-06 12:20 PM by Armstead
This is not to let the Republicans off the hook. It is total hypocricy for them to be criticizing anyone for lavish fund raisers and ostentatious lifestyles.

But it is the Republican ethic. Democrats are not supposed to be that way.

That is one of the bigger underlying problems with our system today. Democratic leaders too often join the same clubs and hobnob in the same elite circles and get sucked into the same stratosphericly expensive lifestyle as their GOP counterparts.

They enter a life of privilege while in politics and too often Democratic leaders slip from politics into the world of $50,000 speaking fees, plush lobbying jobs and lucrative careers as media pundits.

It's hard for poeple who drop $150 for lunch at a fancy restaurants regularly to emphasize with a family trying to balance whether to pay the mortage, the heating bill or food every month. It's difficult to appreciate the dangers of corporate power, when you are relaxing with the same corporate titans at fancy resorts.

No matter how good you start out, or how well intentioned, your perceptions get warped when you jump on that luxury train.

15. Ford's Manicures Are Not the Issue With Me
Edited on Sat Mar-11-06 08:18 PM by Crisco
And I expect they really aren't with most of his constituents, either.

IMO, the purpose of this website isn't so much for the Republican party to campaign against Ford as it is how to give Tennessee repukes something to take back to message boards, letters to the editor and usenet with, so they can tar him as a metroexual or effete gay (not a real Tennessee MANLY man!), while the GOP saves its official attacks for Ford's family.

Just a hunch.

6. I don't thnk the public perceives the repubs as the party of
billionaires any more...for that fact, most of the known billionaires have been supporting the democratic party. The republicans have become the party of the wonder bread demographic..not exactly martini slurpers. Most of the educated well to do folks vote for us. That's been a shift for twenty years now. Even the Union guys aren't voting with their union bosses any more. I think we've managed to hang onto the minority vote, which makes up the brunt of our "worker party". I live in a majority blue state...the repubs live in the rural outlying counties, and tend to be lower income.

with the Ruling Class and they cannot be rid of him. Hang * around their necks and never let him off.

13. I didn't say that the repubs don't have rich people in their party
but we have MORE than our fair share. Public perception in many areas remains, that we have become the party of the "elite". Ford isn't running against Bush but he is running against public perceptions.

Or whomever the 'pukes pick, if Ford wins the nomination.

The Fancy Ford site does a great job of portaying Ford as an effete homosexual. They've only barely started throwing in references to Uncle John and Aunt Ophelia.
