Dems aren't beating Repugs, Repugs are beating Repugs

The Dems are just going to be the luck benefactors. In some ways, Bush is being so blatantly horrible right now so that when the throne is handed over the benefactors that inherit this mess will have a hell of a time trying to look like they are doing a good job. They will have such a mess on their hands that I don't think ANYBODY could look good trying to weed thru this mess. The next Pres. will have 4 years in office and that is it.

By watching the media, yes, I'd say the same, but it's only perception. I do however agree that the GOP and Mainstream Media are shooting themselves in the foot. Why? Because things are too bad to spin away. Propaganda only works for so long.

The Repubs are (WH in particular), IS doing such a horrendous job that even the media cannot hide it or "spin" it. So the Repugs are beating themselves by the incompetence and outrageousness. The Dems aren't singing in a single voice defeating the Repubs, The Dems are too fixated on their own agenda's (job security, theirs), to care about the good of the people.

I remember when Clinton was President elect. The right took no time in lobbing criticisms and false accusations at him. They didn't worry about how they looked, they knew that if they said enough bad about Clinton for a long enough period of time, that it would eventually stick. It took longer than they probably would have liked, but then Clinton didn't give them much material. Bush has given us so much to go after him on and for whatever reason the Dems cannot unify and act together for us. They are too fractioned off minding their own agendas first and foremost. The Repubs are doing themselves in as the chickens are coming home to roost.

and is poised now to destroy the illusion of repubs having been strong on security.

For a real Happy Place excercise, try counting all the subpoenas that will emerge from a House Committee on Ways and Means chaired by Henry Wexlar.

The approach that a GOOD "clean-up" guy takes is to correct the biggest problems FIRST! The Big ones have the most impact! If I were the new Pres. I would make a list of the top 5 problems for the American people. Something like,

1. Fix the drug benefit program.
2. Penalize employers for hiring illegals.
3. Tax imports of products by companies that outsourced their labor force.
4. Increase funding for port security equipment.
5. Reverse the portion of recent tax cuts that benefitted only the very wealthy.

Obviously, someone elses priorities might be different than those I've chosen, but the idea is to show a BIG improvement in several areas at one time!

That gives that Pres time to fix, one by one, ALL the other problems created over the last several years!

If he/she could accomplish that, they'd get a second term, hands down!

I do not know if it is a case of scandal fatigue or the media is spread to thin, or what, but here is what really gives me fits: that after Bushco is out, the media will say, "yes, we really dropped the ball on good journalism and quality reporting" and then come full bore on the next administration, which could very be likely that of a Dem administration.
