"Incredible wisdom and experience" amongst White House Staffers
But they're tired and weary; per WAPO

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/03/12/AR2006031200821_pf.html

"A White House physically and emotionally exhausted, battered by scandal and drained by political setbacks." And hey guys, bush don't give a fuck about you.

"WE'RE ALL BURNED OUT" said one official who did not want to be named for fear of angering his superiors. (Using an unnamed source in Capitol Hill Blue would draw the ire from many DUers.)

bush is not only ruining the country he's slowly destroying his staff as he is the military. What a Guy. What a legacy.

4. Well BOSS when you only trust a small number of people
and loyalty is paramount to all personnel decisions (and constantly reviewed) sooner or later you are going to run out of bodies and those bodies are going to run out of energy.

John DiIluilio's letter to Ron Suskind after stepping down as "Faith Based Coordinator" was very telling. Staffers, then, were not allowed anywhere near the china. They were told that all the decisions had already been made (this ties into AnythingButClinton and the gross neglect that lead to 9/11) and to just sit there and wait for their resumes to be sufficiently padded.

Over time it appears that the staffers have had to be pulled in as people left and those that remained wore out.

I guess the 8-5 White House is a thing of the past. We know that they only like to talk about one issue at a time, complete with three syllable backdrop, but apparently they have found out that this is an adult job that requires much more than they remembered from their last turn at running things.

BTW- if you didn't know that Norquist was a complete asshat this quote proves it.

Grover G. Norquist, head of Americans for Tax Reform and an adviser to Rove, said he thinks the situation owes not to fatigue but to political realism at the White House. "What they don't have are unreasonable expectations of what can be moved through Congress," he said. "It's not a question of coming up with new ideas. Sometimes you just don't have the votes."

5. If, per the story
there is incredible wisdom amongst staffers, why are they still working there? Norquist is a very sad excuse for a human being and undeserving of his citizenship.

I served on the staff of two Admirals; very good leaders who knew their success was based on the camaraderie and happiness of their staffs. We weren't pampered but to a Sailor we'd kill for the Boss. And they utilized a novel concept, they listened to us.

7. Just guessing but I think that the staffers ...
now have a get in free pass for life with the Republicans and their friends in business.

If that is what you meant-if they are so smart why are they hanging around with that crowd.

It goes a long way, having worked in the White House, and on both sides.

8.  Andy Card get's up at about 4am and does not get home
till 9 or 10 at night. I almost feel sorry for the guy. Almost. I used to work a similar schedule years ago.
What's ironic about this is that there were a number of postings here at DU of articles that described how Bush runs his day. As I remember he's a strict 9-to-5, 8-to-5 or something along those lines. Whatever the time frame he starts at a set time and quits at a set time. WHATEVER THE TIME FRAME UN-CURIOUS GEORGE DOES NOT DO OVERTIME! Dinner starts at the same time. Oh yeah and there is cartoons after desert!!

Personally, I hope we see some resignations soon. It seems Mr. Bush expects a lot from his staff, too bad he does not expect too much of himself. What a f_____G hypocrite!

9. What incredible wisdom and experience?
I mean for every thing that bites them on the ass, they say that no one could have possibly imagine it could have happened.

Even though we had intelligence warnings about it, no one could imagine terrorists flying planes into buildings.
No one could have guessed that the Iraqis wouldn't welcome us as liberators.
No once could have imagined that the levies would break.
Etc.
