Republicans Splitting at Seams- In the media (kind of), ignored by cable

You know, you wouldn't know it from reading here on DU , or anywhere else but the Republican Party is splitting apart at the seams:

L.A. Times:
In a biting rebuke to President Bush, a lopsided and bipartisan majority of a major House committee voted Wednesday to nullify portions of a deal that would hand operation of U.S. port facilities to a Dubai company.

Republican congressional opposition to the takeover of operations at six U.S. ports by a state-owned Arab company has grown into the most serious revolt President George W. Bush has faced from his own party in the five years of his presidency, analysts said on Wednesday.

Does party loyalty run both ways among Republican senators? That remains to be seen after Republican Majority for Choice (RMC), a pro-abortion caucus within the GOP, began a spirited attack on Sen. Rick Santorum this week.

RMC launched full- and quarter-page ads in nearly every major daily newspaper in Pennsylvania -- mock "Help Wanted" announcements calling for "Real Republican Candidates for Senate." The ad advocates "the Big Tent philosophy Ronald Reagan helped to build..."

Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo, a Republican and a leading advocate for tougher immigration laws, claims that he is being intentionally excluded from this weekend's big GOP gathering in Memphis. <...>
"Congressman Tancredo was snubbed by some party leaders who still refuse to confront the immigration issue head on," said Will Adams, a Tancredo spokesman. "They can keep Congressman Tancredo off the main stage, but they will not be able to do the same with the issue."

These are just tips of the iceberg, there are myriad stories of disgusted true conservatives that pan on sitting out the elections unless things change drastically.

Funny, you just don't get that view of all the problems within the republican party by reading around, or watching TV. All the smoke and mirrors blather on about our "huge" argument in the Democratic Party, when it's the republicans crumbling as BushCo reveals their truer colors.
It took a long time, but many Bushbackers are seeing things for what they really are:

these guys are in it for all the money they can steal from us, and to hell with anything else.

1. American jobs that will stay in America, using energy independence to generate those jobs.

2. A strong national defense based on telling the truth to our citizens, our soldiers and our allies.

Plus, we're against torture.

all we see/hear about is how the Dem party is falling apart, but the Repubs are the ones with REAL problems.

all the negativity on DU, but I do prefer to be informed rather than sticking my head in the sand, as comforting as that might be. Tis nice to read an upbeat post!

Intolerance and Greed.

But SOME republicans "in the old days" stood for fiscal conservatism and small government.

These neocon frauds have really alienated those types.

As is the Democratic party.

I am still a Dem; but let's face it the Democratic party ain't what it used to be and needs to change.

This is so weak. The President is dissing Washington to explain why the Medicare drug bill is such a disaster:

"Any time Washington passes a new law, sometimes the transition period can be interesting," the president said.

But, Bush and his party control Washington. They are the government. This is their failure.

I think he's at 33% and falling. people are tired of him dancing away from responsibility.

And his party sees him as a liability.

My only question, given the circumstances:

WHY AREN'T The DEMS ATTACKING?

answer: Most of them have been neutered or spayed.

however - it looks like Feingold's censure resolution is getting some backers

more coming hopefully.

Feinstein? Clinton? Schumer?
