Feingold says party 'cowering'
Democrats slash Feingold move on censure, as Feingold says party 'cowering'

While mainstream media outlets have pounced on the fact that Democrats blocked an effort by one of their own to censure President Bush over his warrantless wiretapping program, RAW STORY has found that Senate Democratic offices are fuming. The proposal to censure the President was introduced on a Sunday talk show by Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI).

Though all say they believe the program warrants "more investigation," several Senate aides rebuked Feingold for proposing censure. They say that his move had the potential to derail Democratic efforts to strengthen the party's image on homeland security issues, noting that a large part of the country believes the eavesdropping program should continue. Bush has defended the program, calling it a "terrorist surveillance" program, and has used aides to defend its legality.

Strikingly, some of the criticism came from liberal Senate offices.

One longtime Senate aide was particularly scathing.

“Feingold’s grandstanding screwed the pooch and played into Bill Frist’s hands," the aide said. "Thank God Dems punted this down the field. Frist was going to force Democrats to vote on a resolution Feingold had kept a big secret and he would’ve split the caucus on an issue that needed time to get the whole caucus to support. Russ Feingold had only one persons’ interests in mind with his Sunday bombshell, and those were his own. He practically handed a victory to a Bush White House that desperately needs a win.”

Feingold, defending his censure plan today on Fox News, said: “I’m amazed at Democrats, cowering with this president’s numbers so low. The administration just has to raise the specter of the war and the Democrats run and hide…too many Democrats are going to do the same thing they did in 2000 and 2004. In the face of this, they’ll say we’d better just focus on domestic issues… cower to the argument, that whatever you do, if you question administration, you’re helping the terrorists.”

10. You bet there is...
<snip>

“Feingold’s grandstanding screwed the pooch and played into Bill Frist’s hands,"

<snip>

Feingold is being raked over the coals by a bunch of gutless bastards trying to protect THEIR OWN ASSES. The aren't worried about us. The don't give a damn about this country and future generations. They're just worried about their own worthless asses.

People will remember Feingold for this. Just like the remember Michael Moore for his speech at the Academy Awards when he stood up in front of America and publically trashed the bush** administration and the war in Iraq. Moore is now an American hero. Feingold will be as well.

3. Sharp...
He should hone that razor to a fine edge and add..."if standing by and allowing this administration's ill-considered domestic and foreign policies isn't supporting the terrorists, I'm not sure what is."

7. And you know what's really pathetic about this for me personally?
I have no one to call and scream at in the way of elected officials. My elected officials are comprised of a senile Republican (Bunning), a criminal Republican (McConnell), and a suckup Republican who hopes to one day have the stature of Katherine Harris (Northup). Can I get Howard Dean to call in an airstrike? No? Well, it was worth a try.

8. You probably have that right in one!!!!
The good news about no censure vote is this--once it is done, it is done. We don't have the votes for it to carry, so FAR BETTER that Feingold, et. al. keep SAYING THE WORDS ...Bush...CENSURE.... Bush...Censure.... Bush...Censure; and pretty soon those words will start to sound like the comfortable rumbling of a locomotive. The Monkey can star in this film as Pauline, tied to the tracks!!! There's no evil landlord, and no hero to save him--he tied himself to the tracks with his own stupidity and incompetence!

We can help the process, especially anyone with RED Senators, by calling their offices and telling them you want them to vote to censure. Of course, they won't, but just calling them, especially those up for reelection, will make their gonads shrink to the size of raisins, especially if they get a lot of calls.

If we keep the DISCUSSION of censure going, even if a vote keeps getting punted, it will grow in the public mind. And if there ever is a vote, as the Monkey continues to screw up, we can use those GOP votes against those incumbents desperately trying to hang on to their seats. The Monkey's approval ratings are in the toilet, and we're past due for a flush!

The GOP congress looks like a good target for near term public wrath, frankly.

9. Feingold is 100% correct. They have been cowering for years.
Millions of us and we have ZERO representation. Certainly not in the bootlicking Imperial Congress (who are as useless as the Chinese Congress of People's Deputies) and CERTAINLY not in the Imperial Family or the Crony Party, who view us as cannon fodder and easy marks and fools.

What is it JFK said about making peaceful revolution impossible...?

They haven't a clue what we want. It's easy on the right. They all follow the leader.

14. I think Feingold is right when he says the same thing they did in 2000 and
2004."

I think the Dems who opposed the IWR are still holding onto their seats. What if Dems said they were going to stand up for what is right and what is right is defending the Constitution. How can you be against defending the Constitution?

The problem as always is the right gets to define us and the situation. That's why we cower to them. You need to stand up to bullies. What have we got to lose? The repubs are down and every time we cower to them we make the stronger.

and given them one less day to dismantle the Republic. Thanks Senator Feingold.

where it will die a slow death, if we do not speak out now.

19. Speaking out to deaf ears.
I'm sorry to say that our "leaders" aren't listening to us...they all appear to be spineless twits. Can someone please tell me what on earth it is that has gagged them so totally??? Not a day passes that the horror that is our government doesn't commit some ghastly deed that makes my skin crawl...but do I hear any of them daring to open their mealy-mouths and actually say anything? No. They're worthless.
