My Message to Sandra Day O'Connor - take a flying leap...
You know, who gives a shit what she says now? What good is it? She's done her damage and now seems to feel some sort of guilt over it. And before anyone says that she had to be careful what she said because she was on the Supreme Court my reply is, go back and look at the speeches given by the asshole Scalia. He said crap worse than her all the time as an active justice.

So she can just take a leap.......

1. Legacy, Legacy, Legacy
She wants everyone to forget that she helped Little Lord Pissypants into the WH and is responsible for the mess we are in.

9. She helped Bush by
Stopping the recounts, and agreeing that the supreme court can pick the president. This is AGAINST the constitution. She should have KNOWN BETTER.

17. I am not "dumping on her."
She was overall a wise and worthy occupant of her seat, but she was part of the worst decision ever...one that may well spell the end of democracy in the U.S.--if it already hasn't.

I happen to like her...but I will never forget 12/2000. We all make mistakes, but this was one that affects not only this nation but the entire world.

Peace out.

33. Her participation in the "selection" of Bush in 2000, will go down
in infamy. There will be no escape for her. The shame will follow her until her death and her family after that.

O'Conner was one of the judges that halted democracy and installed an unelected pResident in the White House.

36. She installed the dictator that she worries about now.
She chose dictatorship imposed by her and four cronies to supplant democracy. And now she worries about dictatorship but won't acknowledge that she is responsible for it.

39. How bout retiring right now?
Couldn't she have waited a few years? She wasn't sick was she? If so, I apologize. But I don't see why she had to leave right now---the WORST possible time to leave a vacancy on the Supreme Court if indeed she did care about the country as she claims in her recent talk.

12. Just because she is a woman
does not make her immune from being critizized for her grave mistakes that let bush become president.
The supreme court is NOT to pick presidents, this goes AGAINST the constitution.Sandra is ashamed and she should be. Yes she did help some liberal causes..but she blew it when the supreme court picked the bush..despite the voting machine fraud ect. She blew it.And I do not owe anyone respect.Especially if they blow it that badly.

21. I am dumping on her
because she gave a speech the other day where she warned that the attacks on the Supreme Court could lead to a dictatorship.
The dictator of whom she speaks is the very "person" she helped install in the WH. As far as I know the other RW Supremes that installed* are not speaking out.

If Scalia were to die tomorrow, there would be posts about him.....jeeze. Would you critize him? Why? Because he is a male? While we are on the subject, please don't comment about G.W. Bush. He is, after all, a male and we wouldn't want to infer anything about you by your criticism of him....

Peace out

Showing concern about some of the things that have happened since she put Bush into office. That's the source of this thread.

Besides, the male justices who agreed are mostly unrepentant assholes. That's not news.

24. Thanks perdue
It irritates me when people throw up straw gender arguments because frankly there are more SERIOUS issues like the abiortion ban in south dakota, and rape and objectification of women..ect.ect. ect. that is REALLY eroding womens rights..NOW.
Sandra Day FUCKED IT UP the day she agreed with a bunch of FUCKED UP male justices to flush our country down the toilet. If SHE had stood up and defied the selection of bush by the supreme court, women in south dakota might STILL have freedom of choice. Think about it.

34. Not strange at all...
I'm as angry as anyone else here. She sold out when she handed the White House to idiot boy. Rumors abounded that she wanted to retire and wanted to be sure a Republican was in office when she did it. Don't know if it's true but she earned a shameful legacy because of what she did.

23. Right, when did she take the "smart" pill? She put * in and was proud of
it. I hate this shit. Maybe she can read and process information.

She must have figured out that while the world as we know it was ending (no polar caps, three foot rise in sea level in 70-90 years, yep, no turning back, sorry), her idiotic choice for president was frittering away any chance to mitigate this problem by playing international cow poke.

Thanks Sandra. If she's jumping ship, there must be a major infestation.

Recommended...the post and the leap;)

26. What has angered me the most....
is that like so many others, she discovered her backbone and ability to tell the truth AFTER she left the bench. She found her courage AFTER she left the bench. Why wasn't she saying these things when they could have mattered?

And I would be saying this about any other justices, regardless of gender.

I'm sick and tired of those that could have made a difference keeping their mouths shut until after it is safe for them to do so.

28. The essence of cowardice
and corruption Crosses all genders.

IF Sandra Day O'Connor had stood up and defied bush's selection(coup)when she had the power to make a difference, I think the women of south Dakota would STILL have their freedom of choice!

Think about it!
Sandra helped us women lose our rights!
She is no feminist, and no patriot.

30. If I felt the way she says she does...
and I were a Supreme, nothing short of my own death would have made me leave office while this threat was in place. My dh would not expect it of me, no matter how sick he was, because he knows my feelings and thoughts on the subject. I sure as heck wouldn't leave the office and then whine about the anticipated danger which, by staying in office, I could have done something to mitigate. Esp. finding myself in some part responsible for this disaster.

A "balance" that was to prevent the whole court from leaning rightwards.

IMO, she betrayed that role in Bush v. Gore.
