says it's in reference to Thomas Hunt Morgan, the geneticist. He was the first person to win a nobel prize for genetics. Why this girl has something against (Maybe) him and Darwin, i have no fucking idea :shrug:

and courageous for saying what she did. She did need to tell the white kids they hadn't been the problem, so the poem wasn't for them. She just left out half the statement, and that's what caused the big ruckus.

I'm with Spitzer on this one. You need to know the context of her statement to make sense of this story, and it does make perfect sense.

Thin skinned idiots are taking it out of context and blowing it out of proportion, as usual.

Interestingly, i checked the westchester papers where she gave the speech and they have squat on it, but the freeper blogs are going nuts oh well, i guess a 7 year old with an opinion scares them.

A seven year old, child of color, African American (to be specific), with an opinion scares them. ;)

A few decades ago, a black child was only seen as a play thing and companion to wealthy white children. A black little girl with a mind of her own, and the passion to share her convictions probably scares the shit out of them.

the anti-darwin and anti-genetics stuff (see my above post) has me confused. It probably has to do with the Darwin=racism fallacy.

and am I the only one who's wondering where a 6 year old got this vocabulary? Now, I won't make any commentary on the content other than what I've said already, but I find it hard to believe that a girl this young came up with that without help. Maybe she did, i dunno, i'm just saying it seems suspect
