I've finally figured out GW...

...and his hatred for Iran. Whenever he used to get asked about his military service, it would ultimately end with "I ran." The cognitive dissonance he must suffer because of his macho posture being trumped by his lifelong history of personal physical cowardice must be debilitating. Imagine it:

"Gee, George, you were about the right age to serve at the time of Vietnam, weren't you? Did you go to the 'Nam?"

"Nope, I ran to Poppy, and he got me a cushy spot in the Guard."

"Well, how was that? Did you enjoy it?"

"It was OK; I could go out and get drunk, wired and laid most nights, but then they wanted me to take a drug test as part of the physical, so, um, I ran."
