Paralysis by overanalysis and pointed-headed calculus

"Hey! D'ya hear some Democrat proposed censure for Bush?"

Political junkies like us have a fatal flaw of overreacting to news stories and current events. We think most Americans are paying close attention to the Feingold controversy and are falling for the spin. I think most Americans are, at best, only vaguely aware of what's been transpiring.

In reality, most people only know some Democrat from somewhere wants to hold BushCo accountable.

We gotta stop working ourselves into a lather by thinking about all the ways this is going to make us look. The man on the street doesn't care. He just knows the Administration is incompetent and possibly breaking laws. Its good someone is trying to do something about it.

Bush is breaking the FISA law. Neither Congress nor the Courts authorized any change to FISA. The wiretapping is besides the point. He clearly broke the law. Somebody must do something-- change the law or hold him accountable. Nobody's above the rule of law.

This country is spinning out of control, all due to the Adminstration's incompetence and arrogance. Someone has to stand up make people hope that things will return to normal. That somebody's working on it.

Impeachment is unrealistic, but voting against censure is a tacit vote of approval for everything that's going on. Bush-Cheney's plummeting approval ratings give you a good idea about how most people feel. My advice: don't get all wrapped up in election year political calculus-- just keep plugging!
