For those who believe Bush will be forced to resign: guess a date.
For all of us feeling a little optimistic right now, let's make it interesting. Please post the date on which you think he'll announce his resignation. I'll keep the list, and declare that the winner or winners can have a virtual kiss from BlueIris as your prize. I'd offer money, but I don't have any right now.

Note: I'd like to request that those who feel Bush will not resign refrain from posting any negative snarkiness in this thread. There are other threads for that. I am just posting this for fun, please don't try to wreck it. Thanks!

I don't actually have an exact date pinned down yet. But I'll think up one and get back to you.

2. I won't be snarky
At least I don't think so. I'm not entirely sure what that means.

But I don't think the stubborn SOB would ever step aside voluntarily. Maybe even in 2009. :tinfoilhat:

3. if he does resign i think it will be
because the Republicans end up losing big in the 2006 elections . Dems consider impeachment while actually having the numbers to impeach AND convict him . along with Republican pressure for him to resign so they can have a chance in 2008.

so if he were to do it i think it will be some time after the Democratic controlled congress gets underway in 2007.

also, Cheney will resign first so they can appoint another Republican vp to prevent Pelosi from becoming President. they will appoint some Governor or someone else who is NOT likely to run for President. this is to distant the Republican who ends up being pres nominee for 2008 from the administration. especially since the vp they appoint will end up pardoning just about everyone in the administration starting with the Chimp and Cheney.

8. I like your thinking here.

The Repugs are 100% pure political animals. They do not respond to policy, or to anything else outside the political sphere. In order to influence them it has to be purely political pressures.

A big loss in November will up the ante. Right now I don't see a lot of movement but as the election approaches we may see many Repugs jumping ship. Then, we'll know for sure that we're going to win big.

But that's precisely the only kind of pressure to which they'll respond. If the international situation goes to Hell in a handbasket--I mean further into Hell--we may see a completely new political environment by the time November rolls around. I suspect that an attack on Iran might be very, very bad for everybody, but might certainly could go bad politically for the Repugs.

If the Dems have good luck with House hearings we very well may see things going so far south for the Repugs that a resignation could be in Chimp's future. But I feel strongly that they would have to think that it's a political necessity for that to occur.

On the other hand, if the Repugs retain control, through hook or crook, or through stupidity of the electorate, or through feckless Dems, Chimp will never leave office until his term is over. If we survive his incompetence, that is.

5. Nope ... that's when he's supposed to resign his mortal body
When his rightous soul will be lifted aloft as the rest of us left behind suffer eons of giant scorpions that roam the Earth and fire that rains from the skies.

If he goes to heaven I think I'd rather take my chances here.

resignation in 2007, after the new Congress has time to get it together.

Sometime in August, but I don't look stuff up at 5:30 in the morning.

Need a Democratic House to impeach and enough Republicans sick of him in the Senate to force him to quit.

Just like Nixon.

FWIW, I never thought I would feel nostalgic for Nixon, but this guy is so bad I even feel a pang of sweet memories of the days of Reagan.

(gasp!)

actually or virtually, so if you enter a guess and you win, you might get to feel really, really special.
