The new bush spin to sell the war... is absolutely ludicrous
the theme: things are going so well - that by the end of they year there will be a unified govt, a growing and robust economy, and a military ready to take charge.

When officials are challenged with their assessments by folks such as former PM Alawi suggest there is now a civil war - they simply say - no its not. We won't let that happen. No official has told us that its a civil war. (As if it is only a civil war when bush or rummy decide to call it a civil war.)

Think about this - they (bushmachine) seriously are trying to tell folks that what they couldn't get done (rebuilding and peace/stability) in three years is miraculously all going to fall in place in less than nine months.

Absolutely ridiculous - and so brazenly contemptuous of the American Public in the sense that they presume that if they say this is true - even in absence of evidence suggesting quite the opposite - that the public will come back in line and support their policy.

4. has backfire all over it
as it will be read as "Do Nothing". The interesting thing will be whether or not repubs running for reelection are foolish enough to echo the theme - and be viewed even more negatively for doing so.

2. The real question is do they think we're that stupid? And the answer is
they don't give a damn.

6. how are sentiments where you are?
tide is turning in Indiana - three out of seven repub seats are very close races... Bush's numbers have dropped to where his negatives far outweigh his positives. Not sure yet that folks are moving their antibush feelings to the party (as in voting differently in congressional races) - but perhaps more do nothing arrogance, if parrotted by goper running for congress, some of the antipathy will translate in the voting booth. Now will the shift be large enough so that funny results get real attention and scrutiny? Probably not - but here's to hoping.

11. This is Nebraska, what can I say? Except for the Omaha/Lincoln area,
these yokels are firmly behind this criminal administration.

The best illustration I can give you is that they think Ben Nelson is a democrat (and the approve of his voting record) and they think that Tom Osborne is governor material.

Never look for hope from here. The people in the rural areas and the panhandle or still very much bush**bots. They are very much anti equal and civil rights. They truly believe that life is supposed to be hard (except the part about farmer's subsidies, which they are all for).

This place is every bit as racist, mysoginistic, red necked as it was during 60s/70s. Almost every 'liberal' or progressive friend I have has long since moved out of here. The few that are still here are stuck (for several reasons) just like I am.

Perhaps your red staters are even redder than my red staters (those outside of the metro areas which tend to be centrist to liberal). Big shift against bush - but not necessarily (yet) translating towards dems. Interesting read. From what you say, if we ever read such a thing from Nebraska, then we will know that the winning margins for dems will be so large that cheatin' machines won't work.

10. this is SO ludicrous... bad on the idiot repubs who repeat
his spin thinking that it will do them some good - because in run up to elections people do listen a little more... and I don't think this line will go very far.

9. THREE CARD MONTE USING SOLDIERS LIVES AS CURRENCY
I expect things like this from hucksters. Reality is that they
need to get past this next midterm election and this is a last
gasp effort. They truly are paralyzed and are worried to death
about losing Congress. We have to keep pushing. I suggest we
start bouncing ideas for what the Democrats plan on doing for
America.

I would like to see the Democrats stake out the " We're
gonna take on the Drug Companies " territory.

A few tomahawk improvements talked up at our level may be
enough to seed some programs. This kind of approach will help
get us there when the time comes. Just hating
"chimps" is not enough to take over, we have to say
something that resonates. It doesn't have to be complicated.
examples: ---Say No to Drug Companies.---
or: We are not a Pro-Life party but an "ANTI-DEATH"
party.

12. create tax disincentives for outsourcing jobs
along with cracking down on off-shore tax haven/tax shelters at a minimum for companies, such as Haliburton, who take a huge amount of govt contract money.

16. but aren't you reassured by jrs trip to India... and how he
was touting more "exchanges" (eg outsourced jobs from the US exchanged to India)? I am really surprised that little has been made of that trip and his clear tin ear to the economic woes of many in this country - oft due to said outsourcing and the lack of emergence of the promised jobs (from the outsourcing is good crowd). That little foray is just so aching for ridicule.

21. the fact that there are no stipulations, or incentives

It wouldn't surprise me if he had the US in mind for the same scenario.

19. They're still touting the "great" US economy
I was flipping around the radio this afternoon and the official spiel nowadays seems to be:

--The economy is doing great
--We're bringing democracy to the middle east
--Bush is not incompetent and everyone is picking on him for no good reason

In other words, they're whining.

20. guess they don't understand
that folks realizing a lot of things about bush that they just don't like/trust.

Think - we now have seen evidence that bush was warned about how serious Katrina was likely to be...

but not only was he off yukking it up at fundraisers... his advisors had to put a DVD together of real news coverage of the storm and its aftermath for him to be bothered to even *ASK* what happened when the storm hit, and were people okay.

Poor gop-ers - don't get that most of us find that to be a pretty disgusting display - that lack of concern, until it came down to *his* image... and that is but one mere example.

Folks at the WH are nuts - trying the same old spin as pixie dust and still expect people to believe what ever it is they are being told ...
