Harris tells Christian group she believes God wants her in public service

FORT LAUDERDALE — Finding inspiration from God, The Last of the Mohicans and The Lord of Rings, Katherine Harris told hundreds of conservative Christians Saturday that she is "a work in progress."

More than 800 conservative Christians were attending a two-day annual conference called Reclaiming America for Christ at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale. Harris received a standing ovation when she arrived at the pulpit.

She told the crowd that she studied under Francis Schaeffer in Geneva, Switzerland. Schaeffer is considered a founder of the modern evangelical movement, which encourages advocating Christian beliefs in public life. Schaeffer, in his book A Christian Manifesto, called for Christian activists to demand "biblical morality" in government affairs.

Harris, a Presbyterian, said she "redirected my life to the Lord when I was only in the third grade." She said she was "blessed to be raised in a godly family."

Harris also was moved by the Lord of Rings movies, saying they, too, suggest that sometimes your mission in life is bigger than the individual.

Maybe she should just donate that 10mil to a church and put her faith where her mouth is.

On edit...
Why is she campaigning in a chuch?
Is this a church, or a PAC?
Is it required (or assumed) that the congregation be registered as Republicans?

1. Someone should put a cork where her mouth is.
What a miserable, hateful woman. Maybe she hopes someone will help her steal this election the way she helped steal the election for * in 2000!

6. Coral Ridge is headed by Dr. James Kennedy...

He is one of the leaders of the movement to turn this country into a theocracy. Check out their website if you really want to get creeped out.

Edited for spelling.

2. I used to know Katherine Harris before she got into politics
That's the truth. I lived in Sarasota for 11 years. I had at one time her personal home number and email addy.

Personally, when I knew her, she was a nice person. She was always spunky, so it doesn't surprise me she did this.

I don't wish her bad luck, but she doesn't have a chance in a million years to beat Nelson.

3. Coral Ridge...big steeple.

All the denominations gather there at times to organize against women and gays and be pious.

Thank God for THEM I wasn't there, they'd had to call the police on me. That woman is pure vitriol!

UGH! I can't believe that lightning didn't strike down from the heavens... but I know, that's not how God works.

Mysterious ways... However,
I get my say about the disgusting human being.

5. Yep, 3rd grade
that's where she learned lie, cheat and steal elections. What a piece of s**t. The one thing she didn't learn was that you reap what you sow.

7. Directed by god to lie, cheat, steal, and even murder! That is
why these people are so dangerous and why we need to identify them quickly and keep them the hell out of government.

This isn't Christianity, it's Cavinism, twisted beyond even Calvin's evil.

9. The end of America will not be
any liberal takeover, but will be caused by those on the radical right that time and time again say they are "speaking for G-d". The only problem I see with Christianity is, No one has really tried it, in all it's basic and true intent....

11. Anyone watch her on Faux the other day
She sounded like she was on drugs and she said that she will win the race, i mean she really meant it with determination. and she said that she can bring independents and democrats together to vote her in and she in donateing the $10 million that her father left for her when he died to her Senate Campaign.

God after this race is said and done, Bill Nelson is going to look like a saint when comparing him to Katherine Harris.

13. Pulling the Dumbya routine is she
"I believe God wants me to be President" said he before the 2000 election.

Now Harris is pulling this BS. I only fear it will work, because the fundies are so damn malleable.
