Bush pathetically trying to answer a question on Tuesday

This clip is from Fresh Air on NPR, and to introduce Kevin Phillips, a former Nixon Republican and the author of 'American Theocracy', she plays a clip containing a question tossed to Bush yesterday in Cleveland, and it's patently (pathetically) clear that either Bush can't understand the question, can't formulate an answer, or both. You don't have to listen to the whole interview - the clip starts just 12 seconds into the show.

It'd be funny if it weren't so real, pathethic, and an embarassment to our nation. Clinton may have been many things, but he was never at a loss for words like this. Or even Bush's dad, for that matter.

1. "Uh... I guess I'm more of a practical fella..."
No, more like mentally unstable, infantile and vacant.

3. Yes, I agree that something has happened to the man.
During the presidential debates last year, there was an article in Time magazine about the debates. It showed how Bush's "handlers" were stressing out over his performance. The photos showed a group of them, sitting in the back room, watching him on TV cameras. They were ....like wringing their hands, pacing back and forth.

When Bush was done, they lectured him, primped and prissed with him, straightening his collar, carefully trying to tell him he was sulking. Karen Hughes was there.

"I didn't sulk", he replied angrily.

They started over, trying desperately to put lipstick on an ugly, hairy pig. The 2nd debate was down the toilet. They started planning for debate #3. The article just went on like this, a slick, seasoned media crew, stuck with a babbling, stuttering idiot.

I don't envy them.
