Got this in an email from the local Viet Nam Vets Against War in regards to the 3rd CD in Arkansas, which has been held by repukes since 1967:
Woody Anderson, from Fort Smith, a 34-year-old Army veteran, family man, Rhodes Scholar, MBA, passionate about peace and supporting veterans and all-around neat guy is running against John "rubber stamp" Boozman for congress. He will make one of his announcement stops at 2PM, March 28th on the steps of the Benton County courthouse on the square in Bentonville. We need a CROWD to welcome and encourage him. I believe he'll also be making one at the DPA office in Fayetteville (Spring street) soon as well. I'll get back to you with the details. We could use your support, guys. Please come.
My thoughts: The Arkansas Times has an article about Anderson, saying that he's had extensive small business experience as well as being an officer in the Army Reserve. He has no political experience, but has been disgusted with the way the government has been treating the military. Anderson is anti-choice, a drawback for me, and also thinks that minimum wage should be up to the states. But he's adament about helping the little guy, children, and veterans. Boozman has deep ties to Wal-Mart and though he's kept a low profile, his voting record is 90% Bush, which could hurt him in a state where Bush's approval ratings are in the the low 30s. Check the Arkansas forum for more information.
