How much are you willing to to pay to make sure gays can't marry?
I was catching up on my Wolcott reading, and these two posts really started me re-thinking.

Worse than a Fool
Slipperier Slope

Our country is in this perilous financial position because of Republican policies - I know it's the argument we recognize, that people don't vote with their wallets but should.

How is this for a reframing the issue (and how many other ways can we extend it?):

"How much are you willing to to pay to make sure gays can't marry?"

1. Very clever. And isn't it the truth? Love it and will use it as necessary!

4. With the talk of immigration...
perhaps this can be expanded, though I'm not sure how without inherent negative spin.

"How much are you willing to pay to make sure..." doesn't fit with "illegal immigrants"...

2. I think that I have a couple of quarters....
...and some lint in my pants pocket, but that is all I can spare.

3. That could make people think.
People love causes until they cost something, and republicans are remarkably cheap about giving away their own money.

5. We already told them how to make a buck on this
Gay weddings need:

  • Tuxedos
  • flowers
  • catering
  • limos

Kerist, they can't even do fascism properly.
