Congressman asks why Bush twins haven't enlisted
http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/news/stories.nsf/nation/story/CB5195C207A5981E8625713F001CE050?OpenDocument&highlight=2%2C%22clay%22

Rep. William Lacy Clay Jr. called for pulling out American troops from Iraq Monday and blasted President George W. Bush as an "incompetent chickenhawk."

"President Bush took this country to war by choice, not because we had to fight but because he wanted a fight," Clay said, according to a text of the speech he gave Monday at St. Louis Community College at Meramec in Kirkwood.

Noting the billions of dollars spent on the war and the 2,000-plus death toll of U.S. soldiers, Clay, D-St. Louis, said the sacrifice of American lives "is not being shared equally" and asked why Bush's twin daughters had not enlisted.

4. * explained once why presidents and congress critters shouldn't
send their children off to war. They would not be able to make good decisions. OK, stop laughing. I know, I know. Anyway, he said if he knew his children were in the line of fire, he would tend to make decisions to protect them. Plus the kidnapping aspect of having presidental children exposed in foreign countries. Besides, I'm sure his kids are going to get gov't jobs where they can serve the Constition and the American public as well as their dad.

10. OK, so they shouldn't send them to college either
since politicians vote on bills that provide funding for higher education. For that matter, politicians' kids shouldn't go to public K-12 schools, either, since the same applies; and now that we have private school vouchers, they shouldn't go to private schools, either.

In short, they should just be AWOL on everything, like our commander-in-fief.

33. Could you supply a link?
I googled this but found no joy. I would like to share this striking piece of rationalization with some of my puke friends who think the invasion of Iraq was a good thing. Many of them served in the military, and might not approve of Dubya's position on the subject.

in the Bush blood line besides being able to drink your weight in Jose Cuervo and snort lines the size of jump ropes, is utter incompetence. Our military is scraping the bottom of the barrel for new recruits enough as it is... we don't need the younger Bush generation over there with guns in their hands. :eyes:

16. Why Bush twins haven't enlisted???
Edited on Tue Mar-28-06 10:47 PM by jety2k
It's really kind of a stupid question. I doubt that either one of them would have sought a career in the military and since they are adults it is their choice to make. Don't matter if daddy shrub agrees or not.

This kind of idiotic rhetoric is not winning points for our side.

20. It's no more idiotic than the Swift Boat Liars' crap.
That was unadulterated bull, unsupported by the Navy or Kerry's shipmates. Yet not only did the right wing and their media helpers feel free to keep that in the media for weeks (and prominent Republicans -- e.g., Dole, Laura Bush -- suggested there was probably some truth to the lies) but their delegates at their national convention made a mockery of Kerry and every Purple Heart recipient with those Purple Heart Band-aids.

This is not an important issue, but it underlines something that merits attention (and a lot more attention than the Smear Boaters): the fact that the people who insisted on war have never faced the real costs. The fact that they also avoided service in our last major war (i.e., that they are "chickenhawks," as the rep. said) is worth saying, because it also indicates how divorced from the reality of war they are.

So I don't think it's a stupid question at all. Other presidents, senators, and representatives have sent their children to war without using Bush's silly excuses (I give you Al Gore, for example). Sure, the Bush twins are adults who can make their own decisions. One of those decisions was to campaign for their warmongering father, so it appears they support his war. They don't work much, so why not prove they're "patrioticker" than the rest of us who are constantly being told WE don't support the "president"?

19.  Not noble enough to put his or her life on the line.
Ha Ha Ha, Hmmm... Not one -- of any of Bush's children or his nieces and nephews have volunteered for service in any branch of the military or volunteered to serve in any capacity in Iraq. Not one of them has felt the cause was noble enough to put his or her life on the line. :hide: :patriot:

...until someone told her they had poor black people in Harlem.
She said in horror and disgust, "EEEWWWWW....one of them might touch me", and changed her mind.
She now aspires to follow her REAL vocation....Lifelong Party Girl!!!!

25. And the IDIOT response from the Repuk National Committee....
Danny Diaz, a spokesman for the Republican National Committee, said: "This clearly crosses the bounds of acceptable political discourse. I think Americans appreciate substantive dialogue on the issues, and clearly the congressman is not capable of offering that up."

Stuff it pal,we've tried over and over to have "substantive dialogue" on the issues. We try and you respond with Swift boat liars.

28. What qualifications do they have?
If they aren't more intelligent than their father, they'd do little good over there, and could acutally put our troops in danger. I guess they could go over there as something else...let's see...they know how to party, and they can sure slug back a few alcoholic beverages. What would that make them? Hostesses?

Oh, and they're sluts, too. That might be helpful to a few of the troops... :o

So as much as I'd like to see all their asses sign up, what good would it really do?
