OMFG, Pelosi held the sign upside down.....and that's the media story!
Because the Dems, if the media will have you know it, don't know anything about security......lookit, they don't even know how to hold a sign right side up! hardy har-har! :scarcasm:

In the meantime, Bush talks for 1.5 hours about the same ol' bullshit he's been talking....about the good of a war which will have cost us trillions by the time it's done (if ever)and cost us lives and limbs and opened up Pandora's box.....but all he needed was a good shake up (storyline promoted last week as I indicated at the time)!
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=671821&mesg_id=671821

So I guess that we are to conclude that Democrats should be laughed out of the room on Security issues and the GOP are just peachy keen.

Hell, the Democrats don't even have a plan.....cause it ain't a plan if held upside down for a millisecond! :sarcasm:

and anyways...since Dems only got a 15 second soundbyte for all that's worth compared to Bush's 1.5 hours.....and Dems don't make the policies.....they might as well get treated as though it is because of them that 9/11 happened, that Osama is still making video, that our security is being sold right under our very noses without the President even knowing what's up, and that Iraq is turning out to be the pandora's box that should have been left alone.

So of course, it goes without saying (although they are saying it) that Democrats and Security in the same sentence should make us laugh out loud (crack up actually), according to our totally out of control manipulative media.

Who in the hell are they foolin'? The teevee watching voting fools, that's who. And there are enough of them to make it count.

Propaganda sure comes easily to CNN, et al (and that includes Cafferty, Wolfticket and yes....even MSNBC's Olbermann)!

This Asshole media will be the death of us......you just wait!

Have to be twice as good and perfect in the eyes of the overlords....as to prove herself.

I think it's a non issue, and it's attitudes like the one you are espousing in your post that makes things that much worse for Democrats, and by extension, for our nation.

You may think this is something too stupid to talk about, but it's NOT! When you are struggling to press time, you have to make the most of what you get! When you, as a party, are sturrling to be BETTER than your opposition, you can't aford stupid mistakes like that!

15. The thing that bothered me more than Nancy

in the Olbermann clip I saw, was the lack of passion in all the democrats who spoke. As if they are DETERMINED to take the
"high road" - like the damned "high road" taken by Kerry when the swiftboaters were attacking him. I am so angry that so few of them seem willing to scream about the evil son of a bitch in the White House.

Thank God she didn't slip and fall or something....cause then America would be really fucked, hey?

70. Did you notice that the Dem plan embraces preemptive wars?
Or that it also promises endless wars?

Or that it ignores the fact that US foreign policy is what creates terrorists?

Rather than address itself to the root causes of terrorism, it promises to manage Bush's war on terror better than Bush.

The greatest threat to our nation's security is not even Al-Qaeda, but global warning. An entire fleet of stealth bombers and legions of special forces won't protect us when our coastal cities are covered by rising oceans and our breadbasket in the Midwest becomes a desert.

72. Democrats don't believe in preventative wars...
like the invasion of Iraq. Preemptive war is another story---it doesn't mean going to war unless there is credible evidence that an enemy of the U.S. is planning an imminent attack on our soil.

President Junior didn't do that. He pretended that Iraq was planning an imminent attack by using phony intelligence to back up his actions. He led us to believe that he was saving America and sending our troops to die for a noble cause. Evidence shows it was not noble nor necessary.

No war would be fought under a Democratic president without full backing of the Congress or support of our allies.

It's going to take a while for the next president to fix this mess Bush has gotten us into. I wish they'd bring everybody home NOW.

I agree that global warming is the biggest threat to humanity. If we don't have a country to defend, killing terrorists isn't going to do us much good.

60. It was an insignificant mistake....
hardly worthy of the kind of attention given to it. You couldn't really tell it was upside down anyway (says me who flunked my vision test at the DMV today).

I can't count on my fingers and toes how many times I've had a good laugh at the Comedian-in-Chief. Everything he does is a Charlie Chaplan tribute, which would make Charlie roll over in his grave, I'm sure. Remember when he tried to open a door that wouldn't open because he was in such a hurry to leave a press conference?

Even a simple photograph of Dimson is comedic. He has in his repertoire a variety of facial expressions that never cease to amuse all primate lovers.

Give Nancy Pelosi a break, I mean it's such a silly thing to get all uptight about.

they've been laying the ground work and giving so called town hall meetings and supposedly getting feed back for "our input" (yeah right)

then about a week ago, it was announced that it was going happen today, but first the repugs intercepted their secret plans and all the brouhaha around that .. (one would think that ought to be enough to tell them domestic spying is intended for political enemies, not terra-ists)..

Nancy "No Impeachment - If you don't like the president then you have to vote him out" has been on my Pathetic Leader shite list ever since that day she made these remarks...

The roll out should have been timed better, but maybe because of the signage problem it's good that it wasn't.

I haven't yet read their National Security plan but from the looks of responses it appears to be Kerry's 2004 platform (?) ...

I wasn't too impressed with it then... I find all of this so disheartening and depressing that i had to find something funny in Pelosi's little faux pas...

He showed the excellent statements made by Wes Clark and Madelyn Albright, then he showed the lame statement made by Pelosi which was punctuated by holding the sign upside down. If anyone should be criticized is her for evem bothering to speak about a topic she obviously knows little about. They should have let Clark and Albright be the only speakers, for no other reason that they are the only ones with the proper credentials to speak on national security.

75. Here's the proof on what Bush did in reference to timing....
Comment from WAPO on the Bush Press pretend press conference and the Dem's press conference--the timing of it all!

Yesterday, you almost got the feeling that he was just talking to run down the clock.

But why would he do that? One possible reason yesterday was: To preempt any television coverage of a press conference at which leading Democrats were unveiling their Bush-bashing security agenda.

Indeed, Bush's event had originally been scheduled for 1:20 p.m. yesterday. But Tuesday afternoon, the White House suddenly moved it up to 12:50. The Democratic press conference was scheduled to start at 1. Bush finally wrapped up his talk at 2:22. Anyone know when the Democrats stopped talking? Anybody see anyone in the audience giving him hand signals?

28. I lie awake at night worrying about the fate of America...
I am truly frightened by what this evil cabal is doing to our country, and I firmly believe they could not conduct their diabolical business without the help of the corporate media. Look at the favorable coverage Smirk got in the 2000 campaign...and the ridicule heaped on Al Gore....even then the so-called media played up Chimpy's charisma...and portrayed Gore as "wooden". The media even suggested that Gore pick a vp with a little jazz...a little personality...someone like John Kerry!!! ha....in 2004...the media pulled the same shit on Kerry...portraying him as wooden, stiff...not one to invite to a backyard barbeque.
The corporate/cable media truly sickens me...(except for KO and Jack Cafferty)....but having said that...Pelosi still leaves me cold...and her mistake was inexcusable.

41. I truly believe the Dems are a superior party
But,we have to recognize that republicans have pulled a fast one on us. They have been preparing for the last 20 years to do battle for the very soul of America. They fight dirty and don't mind lying to make a point (why else does Cheney continue to lie about a Saddam and Osama link?) The Repubs recognized early on the power of talk radio and trained their shock monkies to entertain the stupid masses. The Repubs recognized early on that they needed to portray themselves as victims against the "liberal media" "elite academics," etc. They recognized early on that if you repeat something over and over and over....you can change perception...and therefore change reality.
I just want our party to fight back smarter. We're trying now and have awakened from our slumber. I have almost stopped watching the political shows because the skewed treatment of dems vs. repubs is just too hard to take. Chris Mathews, the snake, has been continually demanding "what kind of plan to the dems have?"...and then tonight...he was laughing while talking about the dems plan and chortled..."isn't this a bit late?"
I felt sick....and seeing Pelosi's gaffe...did nothing to lighten my mood.

43. Gaffes have to do with substance
as in admitting something embarrassing. Holding a sign the wrong way should endear us to all the dumb fucks that love Bush for being a mispoken fool if anything.

This wasn't a gaffe as far as I can tell, a non-perfect photo-op? Oookay sure. But who gives a crap about that. People watching becuase they are interested in politics the war etc, couldn't care less.

35. Sorry, but this was stupid on her part--and pretty damn funny too.
Seriously, don't they have someone to tell these people that there's something, er, a little amiss with their presentation.

Here they are doing this big photo-op rolling out this big security plan and Pelosi can't even check and make sure she's holding the sign the right way?

They know what the media are. They know they're out to get them and yet they still can't get it right.

I think I'll have another brandy. The Democrats are driving me to drink.

The Democrats.....are getting a really bad rap everytime it can be gotten...and most times when it can't be justified.

This is equivalent to Gore sighing......if that.

Osama is still on the loose....But Pelosi should have known better holding the sign up backwards.

Our priorities as to what's truly fucked up are set by the media, I guess! which means Hilary will be our nominee!

44. The problem is this shows lack of preperation
I haven't had a chance to see the clip. Did she at least realize her mistake and correct herself with a joke?

It's totally unfair, I agree, but in the current climate, Democrats have to show they're serious--and that means being prepared and frankly, perfect. Sloppiness has no place in modern media poltics.

50. It was a booklet, not a sign....
and she held it up for less than 1 second......but the media caught it, and actually other than a 5 second soundbyte from Reid, that's all they've talked about.....as they laughed.

I think it was overblown and for me anyways...only shows the media for who they really are.....propagandists; that care more about the photo-op and the soundbyte than any substance....

To get it all just right would take a magician...cause if it wasn't that, it would have been something else.

I've seen a lot of excuses for Dem bashing on DU, but an upside down sign for fuck's sake?

Good night, Frenchie, and thanks for trying.

What's worse, holding a sign upside-down or an upside-down foreign policy leading the country into an unecessary war, undermining our relationships with our allies, failing to secure the homeland, etc., etc., etc....

If the they want to blab about this, then use it against them to highlight their upside-down policies.

The upside-down sign was a graphic representation of the state of "real security" in our nation today under the current "leadership," and very befitting I say! :-)

We get the important things right.

59. Could we have worse spokespeople than Reid and Pelosi?
I'm sorry, but neither one of them should ever appear on national TV, they're THAT bad as TV talking heads. But they'd rather see themselves on TV than let some DEM who doesn't suck on TV be the voice for the party.

Until we replace them as Dem leaders, we might as well not hold press conferences. They're both simply terrible on TV.

71. Keep laughing, chuckleheads...
I just watched the whole event on c-span and Pelosi literally held it up for a millisecond before she IMMEDIATELY realized it was upside down. It was such a nothing moment in the course of the whole thing that only a MSM intent on ridiculing the Democrats, all of them, would focus on it. If she sneezed it would have been ten times more memorable.

Keep laughing with your friends in the MSM, they only have your best interests at heart. And fuck KO for participating in this garbage.
