Top Ten Jobs George Allen Won't Be Bored Doing

March 29, 2006
By: Phil Singer, DSCC

Reports that George Allen is not happy being a Senator because he finds the job “too slow” got Democrats thinking about what livelihood would keep the Virginia Senator busy. The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) presents the top ten jobs that George Allen won’t find boring:

1) Medicare RX Benefit Help-Line Operator: With the May 15 enrollment deadline fast approaching, we’re certain Allen won’t be bored helping the 364,725 Virginia seniors still lacking prescription drug coverage wade through the confusing Medicare drug benefit he voted to create. (Kaiser Family Foundation, 3/18/06)

2) Driving the Trailers FEMA Put in a Flood Zone Out of the Flood...

3) Desk Clerk Telling Families They Can't Eat. Instead of just being the guy who votes against food stamps for the hungry, he can become the guy who tells parents to their face that they can’t feed their children. (Vote 353, 12/14/05)

4) University of Virginia College Loan Officer. Allen could become a student loan officer so that he can explain to college students and their parents why he voted to increase interest rates on federal student loans. The increase in rates could add as much as $1,200 in additional interest payments to a $5,000 college loan for the average Virginian. (Vote 363, 12/21/05; Virginian-Pilot, 3/25/06)

5) High School Science/Math Teacher...

6) White House Ethics Adviser. Until now, Allen was only able to stand by and look the other way as Jack Abramoff infiltrated Congress and special interests grew to dominate Washington, but now he can more actively participate in helping the White House with dissembling, cover-ups and smoke screens.

7) Credit Collector for the U.S. Government...

8) Border Agent at Southwest Border...

9) Cargo Inspection at U.S. Ports...

10) Treasury Department Accountant Responsible for Calculating the National Debt....
