Sharon Stone says Hillary has too much sexual power to be president
http://www.salon.com/ent/col/fix/2006/03/31/fri/

"Hillary Clinton is fantastic. But I think it is too soon for her to run. This may sound odd, but a woman should be past her sexuality when she runs. Hillary still has sexual power and I don't think people will accept that. It is too threatening"

1. Sharon Stone is nuts
I've thought this for a long time. She's right, though, it does sound odd. But that's only because she said it.

2. Hillary? Sexual power?
Not since she started wearing those turquoise pantsuits, IMO.

At least that is apparently what he told Monica.

Go ahead flame me.

7. This is the same Sharon Stone that, in an appearance at the
Shimon Peres Peace Center Opening with Shimon Peres taking questions right there beside her talked about a woman her age loving to get naked in front of the cameras so much. That was her input to talking about Middle East Peace. Poor Shimon looked like he didn't know what to say in response. It made me shudder. She's almost as big a wahoo as Michael Moriarty now.... they should go out together at night and howl at the moon in tandem. She's batsh*t crazy!

Translation: Hillary shouldn't run for a lot of reasons, but her sexual potency has NOTHING to do with it... take the opinion from whence it came.

8. Sharon Stone would know about being past her
sexual power, judging by the horrible reviews of her new movie!

Who cares what this over the hill so called movie star thinks?

I saw her and Phil Bronstein when they were married at Nicks Restaurant in Rockaway Beach, Pacifica. The waitress was compaining about how nasty she was to her and her Diva behavior, she said Phil was really nice. She is such a phony......best she be thinking about her own future as she is no longer a sexpot. I think she is just jealous of Hillary anyway!

9. I disagree
And I've been with Hillary up close enough to have an opinion.
I think that's just rattling off. Hillary will be 61 by the time
of the 2008 election. She's not Sophia Loren, and she is one
extremely smart and engaging person. I think that will not
come across as sexual power, just intellectual power. As a man,
she didn't affect me in any other way at all.

people can confuse intellectual power as "sexual power"...maybe even more so in women than in men. It's a certain type of charisma.

So I guess I can't say "BS" entirely to Sharon Stone. But let's not hype this up and call it sexual. There is a charisma about intelligent women that is threatening to insecure people. However in men such as Clinton or Kerry, intelligence is what makes them attractive and is certainly not threatening. (I guess Rightwingers don't look at Condi as having this power then, as they don't seem to view her as threatening).

The statement that "a woman should be 'past her sexuality' when she runs..." has GOT to be one of THE most sexist comments I have EVER heard....?!? Amazing.

10. I see what she's saying.
She needs to be into her elder stateswoman "Madeline Albright" years before she runs. I'm not sure I agree that it should be a consideration but I think that's what she's saying.

power", say like John F. Kennedy and he'll be elected. If you're a woman, you have wait until you're in the league of Bella Abzug or Shirley Chisholm so your "sexual power" won't be a liability.

Fuckin' double standard and irrelevant comment.

P.S. MENSA, my ass!

Voting for the war...not being past her sexual power...it's all good. Just get out.

Other than that, she is pretty neuter.

Edited on Fri Mar-31-06 07:06 PM by zulchzulu
Yeah, you get the usual "she's nuts..." crap, but she's actually a very engaging person who really is in the grassroots end of the Democratic party.

I met her when she was part of a Women for Kerry tour and on Election Day eve in Madison and she was wonderful. Say all you want about her...if you actually met or knew her, you'd think differently.

I used to like her and thought she was so beautiful; but lately, seeing her guest on the tv circuit, she just seems like an air-head. :silly:

26. Sharon Stone obviously knows little to nothing about politics
Why Hillary shouldn't run has nothing to do with "sexual power."

Hillary shouldn't run because she will hurt other Democratic candidates running for competitive seats in "red" and "purple" states.
