We need to counter the Right on this
A message that I just received:

This CONSERVATIVE ALERT is a special message from RightMarch.com:
ALERT: As you know, liberal activist judges are "closing ranks" in imposing homosexual "marriage" on the rest of America. Judges in Massachusetts, Washington state, Nebraska, and Georgia have already ruled that it doesn't matter what "the people" think or want -- we WILL have "gay marriage" in this country!

As we've told you, exactly what we were warned about has come to pass -- and it's getting worse. The fact is, you can no longer use the argument that "the states should make these decisions" -- the judges won't let them! Traditional marriage is under attack in this country like never before in history.

But YOU can do something about it.

The "Marriage Protection Amendment" has been passed out of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and is scheduled to be debated and voted on in the U.S. Senate in less than two weeks. Here's the text of that Amendment:

"Marriage in the United States shall consist only of the union of a man and a woman. Neither this Constitution, nor the constitution of any State, shall be construed to require that marriage or the legal incidents thereof be conferred upon any union other than the union of a man and a woman."
Pretty simple, isn't it? If two-thirds of the Senate and the House can pass that -- and then if three-fourths of the State legislatures ratify it -- then it'll be mighty tough for even the most liberal, most activist judge to impose his or her own will on the American people.
THAT will make it all worth it -- but we need YOUR help to do it... and we've set up our website to give you a LOUD voice to get it done!

TAKE ACTION: Senator Wayne Allard (R-CO), the sponsor of the Marriage Protection Amendment, was right when he said, "As the core social institution of our society, marriage in the United States should be defined as it has been in every civilization around the world for thousands of years: marriage is the union between a man and a woman. The definition of marriage is far too important to leave open to interpretation by unelected activist courts."

Unbiased polls consistently show that over half of the American people support a constitutional federal marriage amendment -- but liberal activist judges don't CARE what the majority of Americans think. It's time to change that. We've set up our site so that you can send a personalized Blast Fax directly to the office of EVERY SINGLE SENATOR on Capitol Hill, demanding that they vote FOR S.J. Res. 1, the "Marriage Protection Amendment." We need to FLOOD all of these legislators with our messages RIGHT AWAY. They MUST KNOW that you want them to PROTECT marriage across the nation -- please send YOUR Blast Faxes to the Senate NOW:

https://secure.responseenterprises.com/marriage/?a=7

NOTE: As always, you can also send a FREE message to both of your Senators, asking them to support the Marriage Protection Amendment -- just go to http://capwiz.com/sicminc/issues/alert/?alertid=8791461&type=CO now.

Be sure to send this Alert to EVERYONE you know who wants to help protect traditional marriage in America. Thank you!

Sincerely,

William Greene, President

1. These people are really good at what they do.
Using fear to get the fundies all worked up - if this letter wasn't real, it would be hilarious because it's so absurd. I'm not sure we can counter this because the people that believe this message won't be convinced by reason or facts. They are not rational thinkers.

2. What I meant was to call our senators and show our anger that they would
even consider such a bill!

Forget the wing nuts, they are simply nuts.

4. lol - OK. I won't bother calling my Senators though -
Cornyn and Hutchison are worthless and don't give a damn about what I have to say. We're working hard to get rid of them, but it's a steep mountain to climb.

:hi:

5. Judges interpret law, they don't say"we will have gay marriage"
Conservative judges are supposed to do the same, but lately they don't seem to.
