Troops' Footage Goes Onscreen in "War Tapes" (New Documentary!)
This is a really good interview with two of the American Solders who participated in this project. One thing I keep hearing from just about every Soldier who's "been there" (in Iraq), They DO want this sort of film and info to be seen by the American public.

This is just more proof of what Fox "news" says and is doing, by hiding the truth, how wrong they (Fox) are!

given cameras to record their experiences. Charlie Company,
3rd of the 172nd Infantry Regiment and were based in the Sunni Triangle.
They filmed their entire year's deployment. The footage makes up the new
documentary The War Tapes which was directed by Deborah Scranton.
The film opens in New York and L.A. this weekend.

4. I saw this film Friday night....
I suggest everyone who can go see it.

I wrote up some of my thoughts after seeing it here: http://securingamerica.com/ccn/node/6311

It really is quite extraordinary.

5. Hey! Another Clark supporter! Me too.
I heard there were some rather gruesome shots, did you see any of that?

Also, why do you think Clark is only at about 5% support right now, in most of the recent polls?

What do you think we need to do here at DU to wake folks up that Clark is the one to support?

6. gruesome shots
Hey, it looks like you and I are the only ones here who care about this film. Too bad. It's a good one.

As for gruesome shots, there were a couple of pretty gruesome shots of some dead and bloodied insurgents. That was from the incident where Steve Pink was saying he saw the dog eating the flesh of one of the bodies, but they didn't show us that. Lots of explosions and vehicles on fire and stuff. When they were cleaning up after their truck had hit the young woman, the thought of the whole thing was pretty gruesome but the shots were kind of too dark to really see anything. Pink also kept a journal, which he read from at points in the movie, and some of that was pretty descriptive, like the first time he shook a hand that wasn't conencted to the body it belonged to. The film though really wasn't very explicitly gruesome at all, considering the subject matter.

I was surprised at the level of support for Bush during the election though. Ugh! "I just feel better with Bush in charge", the one guy says. What were they thinking? And it surprised me that the one guy signed up again...

Really, a powerful film. I read one review where the reviewer said you felt close to the guys by the film's end. That's the way it felt. I felt like going to see it again on Saturday, just because I wanted to see the guys again...weird.

As for Clark, the polls at this point, I would think, are name recognition. Remember Lieberman was the early front runner well in advance of the '04 primaries and look how he did. I think people just have to get to know Wes to love him. :)

That said, I think 2008 will take care of itself in time. Right now, as Clark is constantly emphasizing, 2008 is irrelevant. We've got to worry about 2006.
