Illegal immigrant conundrum in New Orleans
A LA state legislature introduced a bill which would "crack down" on those hiring illegal immigrants. However, a rep in Southeast LA says without the work of illegals the recovery effort in New Orleans would be non-existent. The counter argument is locals would then do those jobs. But businesses in and around New Orleans have had to alter their hours because they can't get enough people to work to remain open full time. Help wanted signs are all over the place. I don't offer a solution but I'm just wondering what would happen if the conservatives got their way and not one illegal would remain in this country. Rotten crops? Un"maid" beds? An extremely slowed down recovery effort in the Big Easy and elsewhere? What the fake patriot conservatives have to offer is not a solution.

1. Halliburton's contract to clean up the navel base not as profitable
They would actually have to PAY legal workers instead of jobbing out to contractors who hired, then stiffed illegal workers.

It's just a diversion issue. The people funding the GOP LOVE illegal immigrants to exploit and abuse.

2. The Big Lie campaign continues...
we are subjected to this BS every day here too. "There are no workers to fill my jobs, whaaaa!" "Help wanted signs everywhere, we need the illegals!"

What I never hear is why doesn't In-n-Out Burger have a problem getting, and keeping workers? Could it be that they pay $3 - $4 p/hr more than their competition? It is not a shortage of workers, it is a culture of entitlement. I see it every day, small business owners that feel they are entitled to live like millionaires. They take up to half (sometimes even more) of the gross receipts to support their lifestyle and then whine that they can't afford to pay their workers a competitive wage.

Once, not long ago, we had to bite the bullet and pay what the market demanded, and accept fewer profits to stay in business, now every under-funded start-up tries to emulate a corporate model that requires $ millions to operate at a loss for years to gain market share and drive out the competition. They just don't seem to understand that if you play their game their way, they win and you lose.
