Another dumb Bush: Jeb signs bill allowing dogs to eat outside restaurants

By TRAVIS REED
Associated Press Writer

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- At just 1 year old, Theo had already turned to a life of crime.

The barely-more-than-a-handful Yorkie would sneak into restaurants inside his owner's bag - usually undetected, but he and Marcy Richardson have been kicked out before.

"He loves to be outside with a bunch of people," said Richardson, a 26-year-old Orlando opera singer. "He's quiet and never makes a mess. Everyone loves him."

Now she and Theo can stop worrying and start chowing down.

Gov. Jeb Bush on Friday signed the so-called "doggie dining" bill, allowing local governments to let restaurants permit dogs to eat with their owners outside. Florida health regulations previously prevented all dogs except service animals from joining patrons al fresco - though several restaurants ignored the rules until Orlando-area regulators started cracking down last year.

1. Granted, there are a lot of things
he should be paying attention to, but, as a dog owner, I have to say it's nice to know that should I ever set foot in Florida, at least my puppers can eat outside with me. Here in NYC, you have to know where to go: some restaurant owners are asshats about it, others are just happy to have my business (I'm a notoriously big tipper). :-)

One of the reasons I love Paris so much is because my Pups can go ANYWHERE with me!

2. ditto
I lived for years on the continent and my pups ate out with me all the time. Very common in Europe.

3. little problem with this
The outdoor seating in Florida is the smoking section of restaurants.

Now a Pro-Doggie eating anti-smoking person will sue restaurants for allowing smokers around their doggies. :grr:

4. We have several restaurants in the area, on the water that say.
"You hook it, we'll cook it".

Dont take Fido to a Chinese joint.

9. Lame.
I'm half Korean and get so sick of this "Asians eat dogs" stereotype. I'm a vegetarian, for Christ's sake!

God. This shit continues even on a "liberal" board. :eyes:

6. I know lots of opera singers
They all carry their dogs in handbags.

And they all think EVERYONE "loves" their dogs.
