Spin, Condi, Spin!
With Iraq engulfed in civil war, scores of people slaughtered every day,
and an ineffective government that can't even name key security ministers,
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice asks us to look on the bright side.
Things will work out in due course.

Rice: Iraq needs to fill security posts
HOPE YEN
Associated Press

WASHINGTON - Iraqi leaders should agree in the next few days on filling key
security posts for the government, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Sunday,
calling on the United States to be more patient despite growing sectarian violence.

"Of course, they need to get this settled, but they will get it settled," said Rice,
predicting it will be in the next week. "The more important thing here is that they
get it right. When they get it right, and they will get it right, everybody will forget
how long it took them."

Rice Downplays Iraqi Cabinet Delays

By Paula Wolfson
Washington
04 June 2006

of candidates for two key Iraqi Cabinet posts. Rice spoke after Iraq's parliament
put off action on the defense and interior ministries.

Instead of focusing on the delay, the secretary of state says it is important to look
at just how far Iraq has come.
