If they're really 'defending marriage', why not propose...

...an ammendment to the Constitution outlawing divorce, instead of one so clearly aimed at embracing discrimination based on sexual orientation? I mean; right now, discriminating on sexual orientation is ILLEGAL.

Just askin'.

1. What about at least some
counseling (sensitive to repub concerns obviously) to reduce the divorce rate? Like helping people to stay together and cope.

Oh wait! I get it! They don't want any Gay Divorcee's.

:silly:

2. And while we are at it
let's make failure to pay child support a felony, punishable by a nice long prison term. Of course the kids would still need support while the parent was in jail, but that's easy. Just put the deadbeat to work and send their paychecks to the custodial parent.

What the heck, why just support marriage, might as well support the offspring while we are at it.

3. That makes about as much sense...

...as saying, since we wish to allow gays etc. to be able to join together, we believe in doing away with marriage and letting everyone decide for themselves what it is.

5. Outlawing adultery.
And while we're at it, bring back death by public stoning as the punishment. Hey, it's in the Bible.
