It's no wonder here in the 50th

Busby messed up.
You have to be very careful here when talking to Mexicans, in the public eye. I live here.
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/politics/50thdistrict/20060603-9999-1mi3busby.html

The vast majority are rock red Republicans. They are stupid, fear mongering, racists cowards although they would never admit it.
They hire illegal help for housework and to work in their avocado orchards yet scream at the top of their lungs about "border control".

Busby's gaff took off in this bastion of rightwing hate radio, TV media, and newspapers, they hammered her.
38% voter turnout is disgraceful.

Repubs here will NEVER vote for a Dem...especially one that gives them an opening to play on racial fears.

I live on the coast and that is the only "safe haven" in this District.
The rest of the District is filled with SUV soccer mom's and goatee'd, phony macho husbands who drive lifted trucks with "Offroaders For Bush" stickers on them.

Fuck it.
When will the Dems get smart and get articulate, strong appearing, leadership?
Reid, Pelosi, Busby...c'mon...is that it? You've got to be kidding.

Depressed in Leucadia.

ON EDIT: All this and also she DID NOT embrace the anti-war base. She actually distanced herself. Her handlers suck.

1. This is about as red as a district can get.
She lost in 2004 by over 20%, this time she lost by 4%. The biggest surprise is that this race was even competitive.

5. They were ready to pounce on her here, about Mexicans...
And she handed them the bait.

So how the hell can Billbray get away with Virginia, as his primary residence, and not one political ad about it?
Weak.

3. Amazing.
Don't want to get chummy with those wild eyed eyed leftists. Might piss off Rahm and the boys (note to Francine, you have to actually gain a seat to get to piss off the DCCC/DLC people.)

4. I agree 100%...my prayers and thoughts go out to you and for all of us...
I don't thinkg we will win much in November...it will be labeled..."a hard fought, close race"...etc, etc, etc...and until we get verified voter paper trails and get rid of the electronic voting machines...we will never win...legitimately...

And not to get off subject of your post...WE DO NEED REAL LEADERS IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY...

A person who will fight tooth and nail against every repuke spin or talking point...period...let the people know what the repukes are...liars and thiefs...

:grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr: :grr:

Okay....yes...I'm an angry Dem that believes no matter how hard we try or support our party....(and for the first time in years...despite not having much money due to loosing my well paying job three years ago and now making $300 less a week than I was)...I've sent money into the Dem Party...

My anger and fear is the voting machines...

6. 38% screams Apathy! LOUD AND CLEAR!
I can't add anything else to this except to say (and this is preaching to the choir) WTF is wrong with the lazy-assed, apathetic individuals who do not give a rats ass about their own best interests and the future of their children? Why didn't they get up off their LA-Z-Boy recliners and get over to their polling place and tell Washington and the State, what they want??? Or if going to a polling place is too much, get permanent absentee voter status and have everything delivered right to you door? It is DISGRACEFUL! 38% of San Diego is lacking a spine and a brain -- I know, I have driven on the roads around here.

Sad in San Diego

7. Low turnout traditionally favors the GOP
and there's always a low turnout in off year elections which is why I don't have much hope for this November. People won't get off their asses and go vote.
