Bush has finally decided to dump Rummy...?
Edited on Wed Jun-07-06 11:41 PM by kentuck
I am convinced. When they put out the story that "Daddy Bush" wants Jr. to dump Rummy, that means it was leaked most likely from the Bush White House. Studying their previous disposition for deception and lying, we can pretty much assume this is more of the same. Ask yourself. Why would they "leak" a story that Daddy Bush wants to dump Rummy but Jr nixes the idea??? Who would know that Jr nixed the idea? There's only one logical explanation when you have studied the Bush Administration closely for the last five years.

This My Lai-type massacre in Haditha was the final straw. With Bush and the Republican Congress's polls plummeting to the point of desperation, they must make a move. Rummy has already been asked to leave. It just the matter of finding the appropriate way of doing it without making it appear that he was fired by Dubya. In fact, it should appear that Dubya wanted him to stay. He even disagreed with his Poppy. Uh-huh...

Rummy will resign. And it will probably be sooner rather than later. My bet is that he is working on his "resignation" speech at this very moment. Any takers?

1. It's a reasonable bet.
Well-considered post. Very plausible.

2. I'm guessing a whole pile..
of advisors, more than in the past, are telling him Rummy should be the sacrificial lamb. Haditha was the last straw, and they just can't keep telling us how wonderful it is in Iraq.

The question is whether or not he'll listen.

(And how they time it to affect the election.)

3. I don't know
Before bush invaded iraq, there were press accounts about poppy (along with the rest of the entire world) urging him not to do it.

Whenever there's talk of rummy leaving, there's talk about lieberman replacing him. What a laugh -- an orthodox jew leading bush's crusade in the middle east. What a delightful impression that will make.

6. big IF
IF any resignation is forthcoming - it will be at the most politically advantageous time.

1. IF GOPer support of the Iraq war drops more and is seen as serious damage to re(s)election bids - Rummy will resign just before November election

2. IF GOPers lose control of the House and/or Senate - Rummy will resign sometime in December - setting up a "new vision thing" theme for the 2007 SOTU speech. His replacement will most likely be controversial, Dems will be reluctant to confirm - this opens the door wider for GOPers to accuse the Dems being obstructive.

remember kiddies - it's not about WHAT POLICIES/LEGISLATION IS GOOD FOR THE COUNTRY - it's about WHAT POLICIES/LEGISLATION IS GOOD FOR THE POLITICANS.
